TPMS related info and some questions

I bought a new set of winter rims online and was planning to go to Kal Tire (close to my house, good warranty) to purchase tires, sensors, balancing and installation. Went there and was surprised when they told me they can't program the TPMS sensors because my X5 was a 2020.

After some questions it turns out that they typically attempt to clone the TPMS sensor programming from the existing sensors, and their clone device could not read mine. Tried 2 other local shops with the same results...

BMW wants $180 CDN EACH so that is NOT an option. I am looking into other options, but it seems that with the conversion on the $ and all the associated costs (shipping, customs, duty, 13% taxes) this is going to be way more expensive than it should be.

I've also found that the exact same Schrader sensor (BMW OEM) is being used for different applications, but when it is pre-programmed for BMW (vs others) there seems to be about a $100 premium for a set of 4 sensors and about a $50 premium for expedited shipping.

So, just wondering if anyone else has run into something similar and what they did to deal with it?

Also, I didn't see a disable option, but is it possible to disable the TPMS function in iDrive so I can just go with regular valves and not have a constant warning?

Just buy a set of OEM TPM sensors on eBay, specific for.your vehicle. They come pre-programmed, and will recognize the car immediately, with no effort.

I literally just did this.... less than 2 weeks ago.

Your mechanic is a moron.

Your BMW dealership is a thief.

Just search ebay for "OEM G05 BMW TPMS"

Thanks, i actually have been looking at ebay, aliexpress & banggood, as well as r33_RGSport

My problem is that i'm in Canada, so I'm either looking at very long shipping times (a couple of items I ordered on aliexpress over 3 months ago, just started showing up last week) or very expensive shipping+customs+duty+taxes for items from the U.S.

Ideally I would prefer to just disable TPMS in iDrive and not use sensors at all, but it seems there is no way to do that even with coding.

It should be able to be coded off.
Some Canadian G05 X5 doesn't come with TPMS.
Those owners even retrofit TPMS.
Either way, coding will cost you about half of a nees set of TPMS by HUF shipped to Canada.
