Not just another charge pipe thread. (poll)
We all know that the stock charge pipes on our cars suck, or rather blow. I think I'm seeing a pattern though. It seems that the 2007-2008 models fail less often than the later designs. I know the designs vary between the model lineups, but I'm just trying to gather some data on the number of failed charge pipes per year to see if this theory is correct. Feel free to post the model below.

Failed chargepipe Nov 2015 @ 65k miles. Replaced. Huge increase in power, and now the engine management light has stopped coming on. Last edited by Rialas; 11-12-2015 at 02:03 AM.. |

My 2010 n54 charge pipe didn't last me more than 1000 miles on a tune and was replaced at 40k miles with aftermarket. Had 2007 n54 with jb4 and then later switched to Cobb tune and never had a problem all the way up to 85k with original charge pipe until I sold the car.

The year is pretty moot and flawed in a controlled statistic. Older vehicles will be more prone to failure. The car is older, the plastic is older, it's gone through more heat cycles and becomes more brittle.
These charge pipes fail even on 2015's. Just replace it if you want to avoid the issue. |

I think it's been well established before the 2007-2008 are stronger than 2009+. That being said, I replaced mine before it broke on my 2008.

"If you have a 2006 to 6/2009 and you want the "elbow" that replaces the "accordian" OEM elbow, you can purchase the 2010 model charge pipe. Can anybody confirm that the vrsf chargepipe will also eliminate this accordion elbow? From the looks of it, it comes with a rubber coupler. |

VRSF is a long version, fits on any year also. Both replace the accordion elbow you are referring to. |
