I also bought a set of Nitto NT420V.
I have not driven them in the snow yet. However, I must respectfully disagree with your assessment. I think they are crap. Absolutely TERRIBLE wet weather grip, and they are noisy. I've actually felt the front end start to understeer on a wet highway on-ramp.... more than once. I wasn't even driving spirited. I've been on them for a couple months now. Practically still new, and I'm ready to replace them.

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for your feedback. I've read a lot of reviews that say they are indeed noisy. That was one my primary concerns. The wet weather traction isn't very inspiring, either.
Disappointing we have so little choices. I take it there aren't many models using our tire size. I wonder if BMW could have chosen a more common 22 inch size. |

Just got my Nittos put on and have driven about 600 miles on them. Combo of road and highway, traffic and open roads, high and low speed. Cold conditions 30-45degrees. Most dry roads since I've had them on. No complaints so far. Ride is fine and handles well. No issues with acceleration or grip in the turns. No appreciable increase in road noise, very pleasant ride so far. My M50 has acoustic glass, so don't know how much of a difference that makes, but really have not noticed an increase in road noise between the summers I was running.

I was running Vrederstein summers on my 22s before (destroyed 2 on a BAD pothole... even cracked a rim).... which are PHENOMENAL tires.... but I wanted an all-season set, so I chose the NT420s. I mean.... I drive the autobahn regularly at 135mph+.... so, they are "fine" I guess.... but I definitely wouldn't call them "excellent". Once again... it rains 8 months out of the year hjere... so I notice the lack of lateral grip A LOT. My car has understeered MULTIPLE times going around curves.... and not even driving that fast. On my 21s... I have Pirelli Scorpions.... and they are EXCELLENT all-season tires. The NT 420s???? Not so much.

I believe Pirelli and Michelin make all seasons that fit our 22s, but it's day two with my Nittos in the snow and so far so great!

Stu, you still happy with your Nittos? How are they wearing? Any discernible difference in volume or performance?

I had the Nitto NT420 tires put on my M50i a few weeks ago.
I got a flat and needed new tires all around, and there were no tires available anywhere. I drove around on the donut spare for almost two weeks, which really sucked because you can't exceed 50mph, so no freeway. Anyway, the tires are "fine" I guess is what I would say. I def wouldn't pic them over the Contis, but I had no choice. My biggest gripe is the road noise. They are significantly louder than the stock Contis (non-RFT). You kinda get used to it after a few weeks. They have performed fine in the rain thus far; haven't had any slipping or plowing issues. We will be heading up to Mammoth in a few weeks so I hope they perform well in the snow as chains/cables cannot be put on the 22" wheels. |

Picked up some Nitto 420s and so far.. yep they are loud. It's the resonance that gets to me. I'm returning them to Discount Tire and putting my 741s back on until some other 22" all season tire options become available.
Frustrating.. |

I would not buy them again; but I live in Socal, so weather-rated tires are not important to me. Performance is. |
