Gas mileage? Depends on the model - 40i, 45e, M50i.
My 40i, currently 18.6 mpg 96% city to as low 16.4 with short drives. Pre-COVID with 80% highway driving, 21-23mpg. Do you own one, are consider one? Your question is as vague as your prior post - "Is the M package useful" Is the M package useful https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1804206

Assuming you mean MPG, I'm averaging 24.6mpg in the 2+ years I have had it. My driving is about 80% highway.

Depends on the engine. Depends on the type of driving. Depends on the driving mode selected. Also depends a little on xDrive vs. sDrive. Need more information of what you’re getting, and how/ where you intend to drive it.

On VERY short drives round town in my M50i I get 15-16. I did take a road trip early during COVID so there was virtually no traffic and all interstate. I set it on adaptive cruse and let it go. I got about 22 that trip.

I average 12 to 14 MPG, but I also drive in Sports Individual by default with the engine in Sports Mode but the Transmission in Comfort. This is purely "city" driving as I no longer commute to work.
I thought it was my driving behavior more so than the city driving so I switched to Comfort engine settings for a week (without changing how I drive) and my MPG went up to 16 MPG. I'm not sure what exactly the differences are between Sports and Comfort engine settings, maybe the fuel, timing, but it's pretty big difference in base fuel economy. |

Our X5 40i gets 26mpg with normal driving on the highway and 28mpg the one time I tried to extend the tank. I got 570 miles out of that tank and had enough gas to go 600 but the next gas station was too far to take a chance on that. I think for a vehicle this large, heavy, and powerful, that mileage is pretty remarkable.

As a secondary point, many know, the one thing you don't want to do with these cars is run out of gas. That's a bad thing.

I've been getting 12mpg average in the M50i. Which is roughly the same as my Ford Raptor gets. |

Only had my wife's xDrive45e for about 6 weeks now but have been averaging over 90mpg but it has all been in town driving. Needle hasn't moved off full. Until we go on a road trip, I don't see needing to fill up at all. Our first planned trip is the first week in May for about 400 miles so we shall see highway mileage then.

A simple explanation from Scotty, but basically the fuel in your tank lubricates the fuel pump. When there isn't any - no lubrication. Which is bad. For your fuel pump and your wallet. The good news is, there is a reserve (debated somewhere here as to quantity), but what that means is that your gauge will indicate your tank is empty when in fact it is not. If you ignore that warning until your tank is indeed bone-dry, consequences ensue.

I am very close in getting a 2021 BMW X5 xDrive40i. After my second visit to the dealer I noticed a X3 M competition. Fantastic car which would be very exciting to drive even for an SUV but the dealer told me that the gas mileage is horrendous and it would have a total range of about 200 miles. That means that I would have to refuel every time I visit my son (250 miles). That why I asked the average MPG of the X5.

31.9 average with a 45e but I have a heavy foot and like to drive quickly. That said, still leave it in eco or electric to maximize the mpg. For comparative purposes, my Golf R averages around 22.5.
In town mostly electric but lots of hills and stop/go On the highway on the weekends and/or up to Tahoe at 80mph |
