Def a little smoother. Takes the edge off those sharp impact bumps. Not a massive difference but noticeable. I’ll know more when I do my daily routes next week. The Manhattan bridge is the true test lol.

While the initial suspension travel feels smoother the ride feels a little more “busy” in some ways with more side to side movements over undulations. Def better for me for NYC roads. It’s a good compromise of better ride quality while still feeling like you are driving a M car.

Update...

Did my normal route driving the kids to school where i know where every harsh bump/expansion joint there is with my stock X5MC. Comparing purely comfort vs comfort with mss the car is def less harsh without a doubt. Takes the edge off things but still firm like a M car.

One thing i realized is that some of the harshness I was feeling might not be from the springs but rather the solid suspension/subframe mounts themselves. I could still feel and hear the same resonance travel into the car over the really sharp bumps which doesn't seem to have changed from the suspension at all.

Overall very happy with the MSS setup so far. I have a road trip coming up so that will be the ultimate test when I have the family plus a trunk full of gear.

Alan

Yes, by "de-tuning" the suspension you've increased body roll, which is what you're describing.

^^ most likely. Worth the trade off for us here on the east coast with our roads that looks more like a mine field. My F85 had the perfect setup. Steel springs up front and air in the rear. BMW should really consider putting air all around just like the Cayenne GTS/Turbo.

Overall the MSS was money well spent. Mega thanks to Ben@RGSport for getting to the bottom of the noise issue and my constant texts asking questions lol

Any M vehicles that I have owned or driven over the years always had that resonance that does travel throughout the vehicle.
AMG products the same.
It's just the nature of the firm bushings, etc. that are used in the front and rear suspensions.
I always notice it the most going over the round type of botts dots at 15-30 mph the best. Especially noticeable when there are a bunch of them to warn of an upcoming turn and they are placed over the entire lane.

I couldn't agree more. I got my MSS installed over the weekend. Rides better than stock and looks so much better! Waiting a couple of weeks before I get my alignment.
Thanks Ben for the quick turnaround on the MSS!

Quick update no noises at all been a few hundred miles. Also another positive about doing the MSS and lowering it. It's much easier for people to get in and out!! For me was never an issue but my grandparents called it out and I was like oh yeah it is easier. lol

Nothing, I think what was found is that from Factory the tq settings on the swaybar link was a little light so they added about 15ftlbs more.

Yes this is a huge benefit for my wife and kids too!

My wife noticed it right away.

Also I feel like the ride actually got better after a few days of driving. Sport and sport + is now usable in this car.

I am not sure if it is a good news or bad news.

I just got a local customer dropped of his X6M to be worked on.
When I was about to pull it in, I heard a very familiar noise coming from the rear.
I decided to take it around the parking lot, and yes, it is the dreaded sway bar link noise.

Car still stock height.
Will install MSS tomorrow and put extra torque on the rear sway bar link.

Thanks Ben. My shop said they did extra torque but after a day I heard the sound again. Wonder if torque wasn't enough. Pls let us know what you find out. Thanks in advance.

Same here. We torqued the crap out of the bolts on mine, and the frequency of the knocking noises decreased, but not down to zero - sorry.

A bushing or washer seems to be in order to fix this, but that's just an educated guess.
