I just checked the Bavsound website to get details on the upgrade for a standard Hi-Fi G05. It doesn't indicate if you would also need to upgrade the speakers if I was to only get the amp and the ghost under seat sub-woofers.

They told me just upgrading the amp makes a dramatic difference. I'm leaning toward purchasing it, but I don't think they ship until feb.

Just looked at the amp... 900 bucks seems kind of steep. If all you're doing is changing out the amp you can find a very good aftermarket amp for a lot less than that. I guess the benefit is the plug and play part, but it's not very difficult to wire an amp if the wires are already present.

The full BAVSound kit will go louder than stock H/K. And you will want to dynamat the crap out of the door panels to keep rattles away. I think the stage 1 really stands out from H/K at higher volumes, but I do notice a full, rich sound at lower volumes especially when sitting with no road noise. The stage 1 just seem to all be matched perfectly so nothing sounds harsh and nothing seems to get overpowered by other speakers. I read someone’s comments on stage 1 in a 5 series that they thought there was “just more sound” with the upgrade. I would agree with that statement. I do like playing loud music when I’m driving, and there’s no doubt the stage 1 shines at about 2/3 volume and above. Maybe start with the subs and if you like what you hear, like I did, you can add the rest of the stage 1 later. The subs are the easiest to swap out anyway. |

Does anyone have any experience with Focal component speakers and/or their under seat subs?
What about any other brands than BavSound? (They don’t make an external amp for the G05 with HK) Last edited by Jrunr; 01-07-2019 at 10:10 PM.. |

I have a 2019 leased X5 and im thinking of adding an amp, sub and changing all the speakers. I'm going to a certified shop, not some back alley place. Should I buy nervous about them messing up the electronics of the car? I have the standard HI-Fi system.

Curious why you're spending all that money upgraded the sound system on a leased car? Doesn't that just mean in 3 years you've basically just thrown, what i'm guessing to be at least $1,500, out the window?

Unfortunately, during the process of getting the car I completely left out the audio system. It just totally slipped my mind. I just purchased it 2 months ago and my past vehicles have always had BOSE at the very least. The standard HiFi is terrible. Yes it's a little less than $1500. I just want to know has anyone done it before and how risky is it.

Hello guys, just a heads up: I just took delivery of my Match UP 7BMW amplifier and the MEC BT extension card, and sadly the HiFi (S676A) System on my G05 is not plug & play with the supplied harness of the UP 7BMW. My G05 amp, even though is the HiFi version, has 3 inputs, and one of them appears to be MOST signal like in the Top HiFi (S688A), and yes, I'm aware that HiFi option shouldn't have MOST signal, but that's what I found on my car when trying to install it.
I already contacted Audiotech to see what do they have to say about it. Or if anybody has already achieved this install on their G05s, please help me out. Last edited by RO-CK; 05-14-2019 at 11:25 PM.. |

Has anyone actually installed the Bavsound ghost sub in their G05? Bavsound indicates that the current model won’t fit and that they are developing a sub that will be plug and play in the G05.

The G05 with HiFi option is not plug & play with the Match UP 7 BMW Amp. The car (at least mine) comes with the tuner separated from the headunit stereo, meaning that the car does not has in the back/trunk an "external amp" only, but a unit that has a tuner and an amp all together (among other things). This module is called RAM and is connected via an ethernet cable. This is the module in the trunk of the G05 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Uho...ew?usp=sharing So, if someone knows how to make this work, please share. Sadly for the moment my only option is to sell the Amp and Bluetooth MEC Module Last edited by RO-CK; 09-25-2019 at 09:37 PM.. |

I’ve ordered bavsound ghost subs. Should be here in the new year. Will report back when installed. I’d love an amp upgrade though or separate sub altogether. I find the HK speakers flat and lacking oomph.

I had hifi in my 328i, and I had the HK in my 340i.
I upgraded every speaker, both times, with Bavsound speakers. The quality of sound was considerably better in both cars.... but it still wasn't nearly as good as the B&O in my 2007 S8. Nothing compared to that thing. Which is why I forked over the big bucks and I'm having my car fitted with the B&W. It's important to me. Really important. With all that said.... I highly recommend Bavaudio for a quality speaker upgrade, and an easy installation. All the speakers and wiring were perfectly matched to my car. No cutting, changing connections, adding screws, etc. |
