I'm stilling wait for a response from my dealer/BMW. My dealer sent the audio clip to BMW to see if they can figure it out; planning on a service visit in the next two weeks or so when I get back from a work trip...I will share what they tell me when I get a response.

Please keep us posted if your dealer finds out anything - your dealer seems to be more responsible than mine...... really curious to know what the heck is wrong that’s causing this noise...

Quick questions - does everyone who has this noise have the new electric luggage compartment package (I do)?? I am starting to suspect it’s the sound caused by the raised anti slip (malfunction of the anti slip)....could be totally wrong lol - going through the process of elimination cause the sound seems to be coming from rear within the cabin.

Hi guys, Have you dealers look at the plastic dust shield on you rear axles. if there broken or loose or "not clip to the axle" they can rub against the rear diff housing causing the noise. seam like there is a running change and the dust shield are made of plastic not metal like the older cars. I have at attached a pic for real OEM for better visual. #3 is the dust shield not the seal, It's actual a separate part that just clip to the axle. my dealer just replaced mine and the noise is gone. waited until I was pretty sure before post any progress.

Is this related to rear steering or the Air Suspension - cause I do not have them - or it’s just relating to the vehicle in general? Thanks again

Frozen gas it not related to air suspension or rear steering.

there are 3 different diff option on the x5 based on you build, but they all have the plastic dust shield on the axles. seam like an assembly issue vs part failure. mines a 7/2019 build with the all aluminum diff.

Anyone else booked into dealer to have this investigated? Curious to find out if you do, let us know if the noise is related to the dust shield.

Good to know and thank you for this information. I'm heading to the dealership the week of Nov. 11th (pending day of loaner availability) and will share this with them. I will share what they say/find out after I get the car back.

Please report this to your local BMW dealer - only this way to get BMW’s attention on this...

Hmmm, yes and no, had sent the dealer the vid I took, but the service guy did not really take it serious, today they test drove it again and finally also heard the sound. Dealer has now created a "Puma" case with BMW HQ in Munich and we are awaiting feedback therefore again.....?!

Let's see if this will be resolved soon?!

Hopefully Pete will also have an update soon - sigh...brand new BMW issues...
