JB4 Install - Burger No Help
Hey Everyone,
Was going to install my JB4 today though looking at the F90 guides doesn't help anyone. Spoke well chatted with Burger, not much help. Checked N54 tech no good there either. Does anyone have any guidance on installing this for the F95? Also do I need to pull the cargo liner out to pull the negative was waiting for the car to go to sleep but that hasnt happened. UGH Ive been out of the BMW scene for a hot minute. Frustrating.

Wish I can help you, rather than to make stuff up.
Reading this makes me more sure of wanting a Race Chip, over a JB4 - no offense. I hope you find the solution quickly.

I agree lately BMS service, and customer service has been poor. Emails take for ever to respond to. I think they grew too big too fast.
Let us know how it performs once I figure out the install. |

Got the install, The connector is at the front of the intercoolers.
Now to figure out the obd firewall passthrough, emailed burger on that too. No response as of yesterday AM from them on this question. PITA.

By the way if you like your vehicles warranty in tact make sure you go to a dealership who your friendly with, make sure to tell the SA and they will not plug in the truck to the computer. BMW is very very much on top of the tuning scene.

Run the wire around the inner aspect of the drivers door hinge area which is option #2. There is a hole in the firewall with a plug or felt cap that some guys use. Go option #2 for now and find the hole later, possibly some one can provide a pic.

There is a factory wire loom coming in from the engine bay under the drivers side steering wheel. You will need to remove the lower cover under the steering wheel and reach up underneath. It comes in near brake booster. You will need to remove the plastic shroud up near the firewall in the engine compartment. Also just to the right of that occupied grommet there should be a blank as well. I ran my radar detector through the firewall there. The occupied grommet is large enough that you can drill a hole and pass the wire through depending on how large your connector is, not familiar with jb4. I am posting a schematic showing factory locations and main wiring harness passthroughs. hope this helps.

Well, technically, there's no such thing as "void the warranty" - basically it's shorthand for "BMWNA knows your car was and/or has engine mods and will deny warranty maintenance/repair reimbursement to any shop that performs a repair on the engine from now until the end of time."
So it works this way: (1.) For normal work,i.e. routine maintenance, your dealer doesn't know or pretends they don't know it's modded (they maybe even modded it!) - they do this so they can continue to milk from the sweet BMWNA repair/maintenance reimbursement teat. Lotsa people will call stuff up to here warranty-ok because even though it's technically not, as long as the mods are modest, the odds of a problem are low and you've given the dealer plausible deniability ... (2.) For something unexpected, i.e., non-routine maintenance, even a friendly dealer will only take the plausible part so far and/or BMWNA will ask for logs. At that point* you're likely fucked. [*BroLaw note: moss-mag won't help cuz it'll take 2-4 years to get to court (car is evidence so has to sit idle) and wasn't written for this stuff so even if you make it to court without being dismissed, you'd lose. bmwna has lots of lawyers & all of the data & engineers for expert witnesses against you and ... you don't]

So I was just checking and there is no way to get from the engine bay to the inner fender liner to even get the OBDII connector in.
This is beyond frustrating. You'd think they'd make a JB4 IBD Bluetooth.

its a pain in the ass. You need to go through the main wiring harness above the brake to pull through the cable. I havent done it yet but thats the only way I can see.
