Not digging all the activity going on in the lower front portion, but overall an expected design change. Subtle, but different. Can't wait to see it on the road!

Did you read the super long press release? Seems like an entirely new car. New engine, new transmission, new chassis, new suspension, new steering, etc, etc. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much new stuff in an LCI.

I’m a little concerned there is no mention of Driving Assistance Professional package or the new Highway Assistant. I use this every day and cannot live without it. Has to be an error.

Also full merino leather is no longer standard. Could have at least made it part of the executive package. When you factor that in, it seems we are looking at a $7,500 price increase.

They could have given us physical heated seat buttons to match the backseat ones.

Huge step in the wrong direction to eliminate buttons.

Recall idrive removing them then it coming back. This is the second time now they do this. People are complaining. It’s not like they made things easier. Remember- we have to drive this thing too while we navigate screens.

Watch there be litigation on this- someone will sue and say it was too hard to navigate screens and drive.

Voice commands never work for me.

Competition doesn't sound attention-grabbing anymore. I will be waiting for the Competition Extreme model.

You’re kidding right? Pre-LCI will now be sitting on lots and discounted. So if you prefer the pre-LCI, the time to buy is next month.

I think it looks great, makes the pre-LCI look dated. (Not that the pre-LCI didn’t look good as well)

Unfortunate about the loss of buttons but this thing should fly.

Its in the full release:
Quote:
The optional Driving Assistant Professional delivers extensive
automated driving with a combination of Active Cruise Control with
Stop&Go function and the Steering and Lane Control Assistant. Speed
and steering movements can be adapted extremely precisely to any
traffic situation thanks to automatic Speed Limit Assist, route speed
control, traffic light recognition (not available in all markets) and Active
Navigation. The Emergency Lane and Emergency Stop Assistant, the
Lane Change and Merging Assistant and Front Crossing Traffic Warning
are also part of the repertoire of functions.
EDIT: also I think the full leather is still standard. the Individual leather choices is optional.

Quite badass.

I like that they kept the shift lever.

You might have read through a lot of buzzwords- seems like the true new updates are

-new engine s68
-“updated” trans because of integrated motor but a little unclear if its just shorter ratios 1-3 (wonder if this was done for 0-60 w extra weight?)
-new dsc system branded as “Near-actuator wheel slip limitation“, this is also advertised on iX models without much info
-new “steering gear” (also wonder if this is weight or 48v related?)

But everything else seems identical mechanically. The one thing missing that was discussed as a credible potential is the 48v reliant active suspension bits seen on vw group cars.

Thanks for the full PDF, didn’t see that!

This is what it the OP says regarding seat surfaces, so it sounds like an option: “The interiors of both vehicles are upholstered extended Merino leather in a choice of two colors. Full Merino leather is available in six colors including the new BMW Individual Ivory White/Atlas Grey combination.”

Edit: Sorry, the PDF is clear. I don’t know what I am reading in the original post. The word extended does not even exist in the PDF. Weird.

Miss the old simple angel eyes. They were iconic. This whole car is overstyled but I guess it could be worse.

I’m not the demographic for this car (the only SUV I’m buying is a GX or a Mazda cx90) so curious to think what the X5/X6 buyers think of this.

They didn’t go with X3M and X4M LCI route? Unusual.

That's for sure. But they do save BMW money because they are cheaper to make that way. Bean counters had their say. Many of them no doubt used to be employed by GM, so they learned from the best.

There is no way the 2020 X5M weighed in at 5093 lbs. and the 2021-2023 X5M's weigh in at 5400 lbs. The 2020 weight is a typo.

I wish BMW didn't use an old Polaroid camera for the still photos. Horrible blurry photos.
Also looks like the same front bumper fascia is used on the X5M and X6M.
