Nice - BMW brought back the 818M wheels on the X5M and blacked them out. Awesome combo with the frozen grey paint. Hopefully BMW improved the ride comfort on these. I don't need the X5M to ride worse than a GT3....but the current gen does.

Ooof...BMW take note, this new X5 is the proper way for a new generation ///M to look...not like the hideous G8X/XM.

I agree. A step backwards IMO.

An iconic design element that other brands try to imitate. Not broken. Don't fix.

At least it still has the auto start/stop button. I thought they would take it out once they went to the 48v set up.

The question is.. will they still allow the car to "remember" the last setting (i.e. stay off after car has been shut off and restarted).

That would be an antithesis to an EV's prime directive

So the electric engines add 147lb/ft of torque.

And just 12 🐎?

+1. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful car and people will buy it... but I love the look of the pre LCI and personally think it looks more aggressive. I'm not a fan of the black nose as well as the rectangular curved screen on the LCI either. You would think BMW would make it blend in a little more instead of it looking like someone mounted a curved monitor on the dashboard.

Thank goodness they didn't completely Frack up the front end with that horrendous and ugly split headlight design from the i7 or XM.

-new dsc system branded as “Near-actuator wheel slip limitation“, this is also advertised on iX models without much info
-new “steering gear” (also wonder if this is weight or 48v related?)

But everything else seems identical mechanically. The one thing missing that was discussed as a credible potential is the 48v reliant active suspension bits seen on vw group cars.
I wonder why they didn't use a higher output electric motor. For the first gen mild-hybrids they used a similar 12hp motor, but mounted to the belt, where it was not possible to use anything with more power, otherwise the belt would've slipped. But now if it's integrated into the transmission (i.e. mounted to the crank), they are missing out on many features. Mercedes' ISG has double the power and more torque.

The new DSC is actually quite interesting, the old one used wheel speed sensors, sent the data to the DSC module and then braked individual wheels. The new system sends them to the engine ECU, so it doesn't output more power than the wheels can handle in the first place. This means it won't brake individual wheels *after* it started slipping, but reduces power from the engine instead, *before* they start slipping.

New steering is definitely related to 48V, it allows for a higher application of steering torque in preparation for the Highway Assistant.

Which is exactly what happened with the 7er. Still hate it to this day.

1. im still not fond of the headlights, especially the DRL design. it's not the worst thing in the world (that would go to the split design ala 7er, X7 LCI, XM, etc), but it would've been nice to see it extend a little bit like the X3 LCI or kept it's design principles of the G05 pre-lci.

2. i'd prefer the X5 grill over the X6 grill to be on the F95 as well, but I guess this is BMW going back to the "coupe" version of the front ends to now share the same front fascia as they did before. not that big of a deal.

3. the one design detail that I actually HATE is the unpainted front portion between the bottom part of the grill and the bottom opening (again, similar to what they did to the XM). WHY IS IT GLOSS BLACK?! it should be painted like the rest of the body. there is no reason why it should be black in the first place. it disrupts the lines and makes the entire front less cohesive.

4. the major price hike sucks too but then again I am too poor to afford it anyway so I guess its irrelevant to me (as are my opinions).

other then that, im still feeling it. a few changes/mods would make this suv even more badass.
