Does Ambient Lighting turn red in Sports Mode?
I usually drive in Dynamic, Comfort or EcoPro. I think I read on this forum that the ambient lighting turns red when in Sports mode so I tried it today but nothing changed - my blue ambient lighting remained blue. I couldn't find any settings to change so wondering if this is applicable to certain year models or certain version of software upgrade. Mine is a 6/2020 50i and the software is xxx2021.
On a side note, Red as color option is not available to choose manually in my settings for Ambient but the door lights do flash red if the engine is on and the door is opened. |

I remember the ambient light on the door turns red when the door is open.

It can be coded using BimmerCode so you can choose from the settings.

At least in a 2024 X5 50e with OS 8.5, switching to Sport mode also switches the ambient lighting to a mix of intense blue and intense red highlights in various places around the cabin, the red and blue being the same vivid shades used in the M logo. If I recall correctly, the seam lines and dash go bright red, and the door pockets or whatever switch to a brilliant deep blue.

This doesn't happen in my pre LCI x5. Thankful for that. I'd be irritated if the car changed the color settings I chose based on what mode I was in.. I could see that getting old real quick, especially seeing as I drive in sport almost exclusively. I used bimmercode to change the default "bronze" setting to a sexy teal.

Here is a pic of mine in sport mode, my favourite light scheme. But it will only allow it in sport, I’d have it in all modes if I could… |

I have to make the horrible admission - I have never used Electric mode. I stay in the electric range of Hybrid mode except when entering freeways and similar things in Sport mode and usually log only a few miles on the engine even during trips that exhaust the battery unless they are trips longer than 50 miles. But your question made me realize that in 3,000 miles of driving, I've yet to force the car into Electric mode.
