Sounds like your dealer did it to be nice, not as a warranty item. They changed the configurator a year or so ago to show that the cover would be cloth and not Alcantara. Unless of course you got them on the definition of headliner which many define it to be the ceiling of an automobile. Then you just need to argue that the cover is part of the ceiling.

Can someone pretty please share part number for this. My dealer keeps saying they only have part number for the black alcantara moonroof (roll shade) not this one (ivory like). Definitely going to change this if I find part number. Thank you

Hello, need advice or someone who had the mod done to alcantara sun roof cover

1) In my 24 I have alcantara headliner in ivory (i guess its ivory, its called individual headliner alcantara and its not anthrazite). Would this be the right part?

2) called third party specialist who does a lot of custom leather/alcantara stuff. He tells me that he thinks there is a reason (not cust cutting)why BMW stopped sun cover in alcantara for cars that have it rolled over the sunrfoof. He has done some porsches where he changed the mesh to alcantara and he said the system did not work well because he think alcantara does not behave well for this purpose. Only when there are “plates” covering sunroof then OK, but bcs it has to be rolled over than not good

I can ask the dealer to purchase above part number (oem under point 1) but should I be worried that I may have problems because of the mechanics not working in the future?

Not a big deal for a lot of folks but I dont like the mesh especially in this creme color. It should look like this:

I would say definite yes for the mesh. Had several back and forth with BMW, after my communication they even changed the image for individual alcantara headliner from alcantara to mesh. They also changed the description on the website.

Correct, that’s how my 25 with the optional alcantara headliner was delivered. Mesh for the sunroof
