MY2021 Build - what would you change?
Right now I've built out the following and trying to work on pricing-
2021 X6 xDrive40i MSRP: $86,550 (I assume $87,450 with dest charge) Color: Carbon Black Metallic Interior: Coffee M Sport 22 inch rims Driver assistance package Executive package Luxury seat package Parking assist package Air suspension Heated seats and armrests Anthracite headliner Illuminated grille Trailer hitch (I need this - and then can't get the dynamic handling package - is this a serious mistake?) Other add ons from dealer - let me know if rip off: Ceramic sealant $599 (entire car, leather too) Clear bra on front, hood, mirrors $1,200 Tire package - 4 years, 60k miles, $995 (this is a MUST with those low profile tires/rims And recommended BMW Ultimate Care? |

Tough to swallow $5k for PFF, but I realize I'm spending $2k on ceramic and clear bra, so I'm on my way.... |

I have the same DHP dilemma on an X5 40i build. I decided to get the DHP package and install a stealth hitch or retro fit OEM hitch. DHP package is a hidden gem to those who knows what it is!

Upgrade your leather including the dash. You are upgrading you headliner which IMHO should come after your leather.
I interpret your build as a luxurious car with some looks. It is not overly performance oriented. You are not into very loud music. You want to make a statement and have a very luxurious vehicle. |

I've got merino leather, which I think is the best? Harmon Kardon is the only option, which I have (I think it's part of the Executive Package for the x6). And yes - my debate on DHP, which I realize there are plenty threads on it, but I'd have to lose the trailer hitch, which is important. |

For me the added benefit are twofolds - I live in an area where we deal with lot of ice and snow. LSD differential makes a difference in inclement weather. Yes, X Drive with brake based open differential is fine for many, but I want the best. I am glad BMW started offering this option on 40i this year. Don't listen to others on this DHP subject who never had it or test drove it, sorry no offence. +1 for extended merino. By the way, I am one of those forum member who liked active suspension over the air variant. At the end of the day it is your choice and build.

I agree, great build. Red calipers is perfect on the CB.
I wouldn't pay your dealer any money for the ceramic sealant and ppf. I would ask them not to remove any exterior wrapping and not to touch it. Hire a skilled detial professional. Take it to them on day one. They will do a stage 1 polish / correction. Do the PPF on front (a must with BMW). Then do a legit ceramic coating or graphene coating. Probably cost you a few hundred more but you know it is the real stuff. Dealer prep guys are washing multiple cars a day with the same dirty water. My M50 showed up the day everything shut down. So it sat for 2 months. I was concerned about the cleaning, so they said they would have their best guy that does Benz prep it. He destroyed it...and its white. I had them pay for a stage 2 correction on a brand new car. crazy congratulations on the new ride. Be sure to post some pics!! |

Red looks hot. Thats what I got on mine and it really looks good. I think moving forward we are going to order more of this set up for the lot units.

Did you get the spare tire and jack? Much cheaper to get it now if you decide to ditch the run flats. (Ask me how I know)

I would get the hitch if your losing the pickup truck. I bought a small 5.5 by 8 utility trailer and I use it all the time because I don’t have a pick up. As far as handling goes, spot plus with the air suspension tightens things up pretty well to have fun. Also the factory hitch is rated for 7000 pounds so there is a boat in my future!
