I'm looking to gather information on this since I just took delivery last week and am interested in finding out who else might be affected and may have some information.

Mine was built Jan 31 but I have it already - does that mean there is a recall? 🤷‍♂️

I took delivery the day before the stop sale went into effect. At this point, I'm not sure what the situation entails. Does the remote park feature work on your vehicle?

Hopefully it's just a firmware update. Would they do a stop sale if it was that simple?

I don't think they have issued a recall yet, just a stop sale. Check your VIN on these sites and see if anything shows.

People often get confused on the wording, but in the US, a recall is a government mandated thing…a stop sale is something BMW chose to do, not forced by the government, so you won’t see that covered on the US recall website. A BMW issued SIB could cover how to ‘fix’ either a recall, or a stop sale, or other technical issue.

Remote parking has been a feature in other markets for at least several years, but generally not in the US. Originally, I think it required the display key, but may now be part of the APP.

Is it normal to do a stop sale on something that can be fixed through a software/firmware update?

A stop sale can happen for any problem. Generally, it tends to happen for something that could be dangerous, and that could be liability, or some problem with normal operation that BMW feels is essential.

Yes, that may be more common than hardware. Often it seems the cause is a different piece of hardware used during the build and they later find out that a software change needs to be made.

Was supposed to take delivery of an X7 on Friday, this info was relayed to me then... No one has any additional information beyond the stop sale details though.

You'd think if it was a pressing issue, there would be more information available. When I took delivery, my Client Advisor attempted to demonstrate the Remote Parking feature, but it wouldn't work. The app kept displaying an error. The fact that cars have been sold with no information on the issue or solution, yet sales are being stopped on vehicles built during that time, just seems odd to me. If it's "dangerous", are we not important lol?

The stop sale went into effect literally the day after I took delivery. Although the car was still in their possession because they were installing my carbon fiber parts, I had already completed the sale.

I haven’t really tried it yet.
Intakr thet back. I did try it once and had to take over the wheel because it started heading toward a car and I haven’t tried it again

I had a M3 subject to stop delivery after doing 1,500 miles during an ED. That was frustrating. Was for a diff issue. I had flown from Hoisron to Orlando to pick it up and had to wait 4 days after Managing to get it expedited after a few well placed emails and phone calls.

Oh. Yes I tried the remote driving feature - drove it up and down the driveway and seemed to work ok but did not try the remote parking method bit

Yes am also waiting for an X5, bought end Jan. Build month 07/23. Have put a stop delivery on it. Apparently some software upgrade that requires intervention by dealer (via Germany) 🤔

You can record a path and use your phone from outside the vehicle to do the recorded path. You can also use it to remotely park--but you have to use the parking assistance first, have the car find the spot, hop out, then use your phone to park it.

I did try doing a a recorded path into my garage but it complained that it was too tight
