Is it a good price for this spec X5 xDrive40?

Good evening everyone

My wife is excited about purchasing this 2024 xDrive40i.
I have attached its spec list and here’s some more:

MULTI-CONTOUR SEATS $750
MINERAL WHITE METALLIC

COFFEE
EXTENDED MERINO LEATHER UPHOLSTERY

ILLUMINATED KIDNEY GRILLE $500
REMOTE ENGINE START $300
HEATED FRONT SEATS, ARMRESTS & STEERING WHEEL $350
HARMAN/KARDON SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM $875

Please advise if it’s a good deal.
Located in FL.
MSRP is $80950.
The dealer agrees to reduce the price by 3500 USD just because it’s in stock (I am not a vet and not eligible for any additional discounts like BMW loyalty program etc).
So the final price is $77495 before taxes and title/registration.
Thank you.

For me price on a car is secondary. Does it have the options and features you want? If so then it is easy to search the country (BMWUSA.com autotrader.com, etc) for similar cars. Call the dealers, or a broker, and determine if it is a good price or not. If you are buying it on price alone, no, its not a good price. You can find cheaper ones.

Keep in mind that vehicle does not have the Driving Assistance Professional package which is a must have in many people's opinion.

As far as the discount goes, you should try and shoot for another $2-3k off. 8% - 10% discount is pretty common on those in many areas. Of course discounts are regional so you need to see what other dealers are doing.

All that said, if your wife really wants it then it may be worth paying a little extra to keep her happy but I would recommend skipping it and ordering one for her.

Totally agree on the driver’s assistance package. This spec is not perfect for me but the wife just likes it from exterior perspective. And it’s somewhat hard to get more than 3500 here in Florida.

It's worth noting that most of the guys getting big discounts are ordering, not buying off the lot. Dealers are (nowadays) less likely to deal on cars on the lot, because they know there's a good chance of someone paying full price or more.

I'm with the others, make sure it's exactly what y'all want. If it isn't, order one that is at a higher discount.

This specific dealer would not have any discounts on custom orders, unfortunately. But we haven’t tried others.
Also it has 3.99% APR (somehow not 2.99% as stated on the official BMW USA website) and it will last until April from what I understand.
Not much time to research and decide.

The dealer is marking up the base rate 1%, should you decide to get it tell them to remove the markup.

I think we have two things in opposition here. 1. Your wife loves and wants the car, which is significant. 2. Neither of you has really done much research on the options (DAPP really is important, especially for her safety) and competitive pricing. In this case, 1+2 = Why not just slow it down a bit? Tell Mrs. Makarov that she's definitely going to get that car - or something identical but even better - "But, honey, let's slow down for a couple of days and make sure it is everything we want it to be. These nice folks on a message board are going to help us." (FWIW, my local dealer also refuses to apply significant discounts to ordered vehicles.)

Say you just put taxes and fees down and you’re financing the bulk of this car (78k), that 1% markup is giving back 2000 of your 3500 discount. I really really really can’t stand dealers that do this to unexpected buyers. I’d rather see you order one from lease hackr. Pay a 600 broker fee. Get 9% off msrp and base rate of 2.99 financing. And most importantly get the EXACT car you want. Hurry up tho, you can still prob get a build slot to be delivered in March for the 2.99 rate to be guaranteed. These programs are non lockable, if the ca dis delivered in April and the programs change you will be shit out of luck. You will definitely have to submit an order in the next 1-2 days max tho to have any shot..

I thought the 2.99 offer is only for my24 cars that are in-stock. So the next best thing is to hunt down dealers that has what they want in-stock. Either that or be ready to give something up. BUT at this price point, im not giving anything up. Lol

These are MY24 cars.
The dealers that the brokers use still have build allocations set to begin very soon but are in modifiable status 112 - once they flip to 150 no longer can be changed.

Didnt think there would still be my24 modifiable allocations left. But regardless, keyword to what was posted on a different thread on this topic was it has to IN-STOCK to avail the 2.99, not on order.

Sorry I’m not following this.
I don’t know if these modifiable builds are still left. As of 3 days they certainly were.
If someone is saying it has to be in stock to get 2.99 that’s absolutely false. You need to sign papers before 3.31 that’s the only requirement. The car could be at the factory right now.

Side note - my personal view - bmw will continue aggressive programs into April on remaining MY24s. But ya never know…

It's a beautiful X5. I agree with the "slow down" recommendation and I'll echo the sentiment for Driving Assistant Pro which is an absolute game changer. However, if you decide this is the car y'all want I'd walk in and offer $75k plus tax, title and reg. And I'd insist on 2.9% BMW financing. Prepare to walk if you don't get what you want especially on the financing. Also Keep in mind that dealer doc.fees are outrageously high in FL. In the end, if you and your wife decide this is the one, get it, enjoy it and don't look back.

This is incorrect, like most special rates, driving events and sales events, the vehicle must come from dealer inventory in order to get the 2.99%

I'm not terribly familiar with all the packages so forgive me, but it looks like from the picture that it does come with the Driving Assist Pro. It looks like I see the forward radar in the bumper there, unless thats the license plate spot. I've seen some of the newer BMWs have a designated spot for the license plates and it makes the bumper look odd if you don't put it on there.

All LCI vehicles get the radar cover whether they have DAP or not.

$3500 off isn’t a great deal IMO. In thr heat is car shortage in mid 2022, people are getting 3000 off. I would expect 2x of that now, 8-9% range. In a usual car market, which is what the market is returning to, buying a car in desler lot should give your more flexibility to negotiate. Everyday the car stays in lot is costing dealer money.

I don’t like to disagree with you bc you are typically right and I should therefore second guess myself…

but there are definitely different ways to interpret “existing inventory”. Inbound cars can certainly be considered inventory if you want to interpret that way. The dealers brokers use certainly are, as they offering 2.99 on cars coming into the dealer not just on the lot cars.

Not to say you can’t have some ahole dealer forcing you to take a car off the lot that interprets this language to their advantage.

I'm not saying that dealers don't play the came of "it was inventory" since they do but if they get caught during an audit they will pay for it.

Edit: I guess it should be noted that the wording is different than what they have used in the past on UDE certificates. - "This offer cannot be used for previously ordered or previously delivered vehicles and is only valid on delivery of in-stock vehicles."
