Appreciate any advice in advance!

Going back and forth on the 40i or 50i. I would like to tune either and would be happy around 500 whp. I’m bigger on the torque side as I never get to drive 100 plus LOL. Thinking between 2018 and 2020 years

Half of me says get thr 50 and do less tuning / mods. Other side says get the 40 and mod more with the feeling that the B58 is more reliable, at least before sniffing, and has better gas mileage under normal driving.

I don’t plan to do much is any cosmetic mods but I do love the wide rear tires.

Resale wise I don’t really care, figure I will drive it until it blows up.

Thanks again for your thoughts!

They never made a 440i or 550i.

Perhaps get the 50i or M50i and you likely would not need to do a tune.

Yep, a stock M50I is already over 500whp. They routinely Dyno in the 520-530whp range stock.

I have to ask, why do you want a 5000 lb vehicle to go fast? If speed/acceleration is your goal why don't you look at smaller and lighter vehicles?

I see this all the time and don't get it. The X5 isn't some.huge monster sized SUV, it's honestly a bit on the small side for those of us with families. And Judy because we now have families and need space for kids, strollers, etc doesn't mean we want to be stuck in some boring and slow vehicle.

The X5 IS the smaller, lighter option compared to something like an Escalade or Tahoe.

The X5 also ranks very high on the safety side per realsafecars.com as it’s heavier and rides higher so when I do transport kids I feel better about it. I also feel it’s not as in your face as say and M3 or even the 5 series m sport. I’m a 42 year old CPA and want something fast and safe without being flashy. Reality is I would barely ever drive fast and the 40i is more than enough but I still need a little of my manhood 😀

I would say for those of us who don't want/or can't have a different vehicle for every day of the week.

Fatboy22 The M50i makes sense and should fill that sporty void, while providing practicality. At that point, your could go after a very light power increase, while mostly focusing on suspension and wheels (if desired).
