Comfort Access Question

Is there a way to automatically disable the comfort access walk away lock and unlock when the vehicle is in my garage? I keep my key in my pocket all the time. It is annoying that the car unlocks and locks every time I walk in or near my garage. My wife keeps her key in her purse so she when she takes her purse in the house the car is locked when she goes back to get a package out of the car.

I looked an could not find a way to turn it off by location.

thanks

Has been discussed before and it isn't possible.

I don’t use the physical key and only use the digital key on my phone. There is an option to turn off passive entry. If you leave it turned off, you need to lock/unlock the car from the digital key in the wallet on the phone. I use an iPhone.

There is a geo-fencing option in 8.5 to do this but unfortunately BMW has still not released it for the X5 like they have for other models. Hopefully at some point they do.

This would certainly be a welcomed addition. I wonder why they haven’t released this for the x5 yet.

Hopefully, this will push this option to the X5. Really annoying when at home.

You could turn the auto lock/unlock off entirely, and just use the touch on the door handle to lock or unlock the vehicle. The only time it’s maybe a little less convenient is if you have passengers with you all of the time, as then, they have to wait for you to actually get to the vehicle before they can enter.

Personally, at least for me, I don’t lock my vehicle when in my garage, so if I happen to want something, and don’t have my key with me, it’s not a big deal.

Almost the same for me. In iDrive I turn off unlock, but kept “lock doors” when away. When I wash my car, I keep the keys inside.

Still unlocks when I touch the door handles or use my iPhone.
This way when I park my car and walk away, it automatically locks.

The Geofence is too short of a distance. Annoying!

Also, with Bimmercode I made the beeping sound to a low volume.

I live in a row of townhouses, so there are up to 20 vehicles parked between the two rows. I turn the beep off so I don’t bother anyone if I park outside, and then lock the vehicle. I can easily hear the locks engage, and see the lights flash, so I know it locked…I don’t need the beep. My city also has a noise ordinance, although rarely enforced, extraneous beeps are also illegal. I consider it just being a good neighbor…you never know if there might be a child that it could wake up, or a shift worker that you end up waking up.
