With my codes you have the option of both.

I'm just trying to figure out if the codes offer anything further (always on) to owners that have the feature without coding.

I could but I don't want to get involved with coding other cars. I'll stick to figuring the codes out

There are plenty on here that do though. I think robby818 just had some coding done, including the ADV codes.

Is there some decent guide you can refer me to? So far I understand the cabling part connecting into network port of your laptop, then you run E-Sys app (where do I obtain in?) then what is launcher pro?

the real question is do they know how to do the same things? I respect that and don't blame you at all. if I had the program is donut myself but getting it from TM is hard even if you follow the steps

I've posted a link to a great coding guide in here: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1650202

Launcher Pro is mentioned in the thread. Basically, BMW have removed any meaningful descriptions of the codes, to try and prevent coding.

If you just use esys you can still VO Code fine, but if you want to do FDL coding, like for ADV, then just esys by itself wont work, for 2 reasons:
1) It needs a secure token to FDL code a car - without that it's do not pass go
2) You wont be able to make any sense of any of the codes

Launcher Pro automatically handles the token and maps the codes to meaningful descriptions. It's good up to 2018. Really new codes are still missing/trimmed unfortunately. You need to google tokenmaster and contact him to get a copy of Launcher Pro.

I have never had an issue getting the software from him, but I know others have in the past, so proceed at your own risk.

Yes getting hold of Launcher Pro is probably the hardest part.

Have you tried TM recently? I've heard from a few people that they have managed to get launcher pro quite quickly after making a paypal transfer/donation.

no I haven't but I should try again, I suppose the issue is also understanding what to do. it's been a long time since I've messed with any actual programming.

It's a learning curve and this forum isn't that focused on coding. The 'other' forum has plenty of peeps with tons of experience happy to help

I appreciate it, I'm having trouble finding TM's process on his site for donations to get Launcher Pro, did he move that info?

I posted his latest (Sep 2019) instructions here yesterday: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...ostid=13107059

Or use this link if above doesn't get you to my post (for me, both go to same exact spot): https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...postcount=1043

For me, it pops into the middle of my associated post, so I would say yes, correct link. But forum linking is another type of chaos out there.

It points to Almaretto's Esys guide post on Bimmerfest but takes you to the first post?

I hate software ... seems simplest to just copy the post content here:

*** IMPORTANT!!! Do not just donate and tell me about it. SEE NOTES BELOW ***

If you are inquiring and want to use Launcher PRO, I accept a donation of US$50 or more as a primary form of payment for 2.5 years validity. You can donate to St. Jude Children's Hospital (http://www.stjude.org) or Breast Cancer Research Foundation (https://give.bcrfcure.org/checkout/d...&amount=50). Use the eCard/personal message option address to me, and add your email address to the message and send me the receipt (email confirmation, no edited/redacted screenshots, absolutely no manual/scanned receipts please). If your local Children's Hospital or Breast Cancer institute have the same feature, you can use them, in lieue of SJRH and BCRF. They must be able to send me an email.

If you think it's an inconvenience, then you can also PayPal (discrete, absolutely NO notes or comments or donation/payment indicator, US$ currency if possible) it to me at est4bmw@gmail.com and I will add it to my donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital and Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 100% of the proceeds goes to these two foundations on 60/40 split.

If you choose to use PayPal, select "Payment for service" and do not add any notes or comments other than your email address, if different from your PayPal ID. Never add the words "Donation" or "Payment". PayPal will block the transaction if there is a note and you will have to deal with them yourself.

Make a difference and help make this world a little better place to live in.

NOTE 1: I do not accept screenshots of UNICEF KR/CN due to high incidence of fraud.
NOTE 2: If you donate to BCRF or St. Jude's or other organization, ensure you add a personal message addressed to me at *************************, include your email address. This allows me to quickly validate your donation instantly and help speed up the process greatly. Failure to do so will result in significant delay or non-receipt of codes.
NOTE 3: If you are using Kaspersky, there will be issues with E-Sys as Kaspersky only allow a maximum memory of 768MB, which is not enough for E-Sys. You will have to use a different Anti Virus
NOTE 4: If there's anything that isn't clear, please clarify with me and do not take further action.

Lastly, I often go on a short business trip on a short notice. When I do, I can't attend to anything other than my business, and this causes significant delay.

Yeah I think its cos your account/cookie() remembers your last viewed post. The link itself will always point to the thread OP, unless someone has an account on that site and has viewed the thread then maybe would take them to their last viewed post.

No, I always test that kind of thing because I am well familiar that web software systems are chaotic (being polite). In this case, when I tested/re-test now with no-cookie browsers (such as Firefox Focus or fresh Private Browsing on others), the original link still goes to the right spot for me. The original link does identify the specific post in the specific thread as well, so not surprising that at least some circumstances work. Nevertheless, your link is better as it is likely more permanent by referencing the post number instead of threadid+postid; it is also shorter.

Update: I think the root cause is the Mobile vs Desktop view on that forum software/theme (and probably this one as well). My original link works for all mobile browsers for me, and does not for desktop browsers. Software ...
