Weird sound when lift of throttle in boost

I have this wierd sound when I shift or lift into high boost. It soulds kinda like a really quiet blowoff valve... meaning it sounds like air being released. I have had my forge dv for awhile and never noticed this sound before... should i be worried, and what could it be?

It is probably your diverter valves.

If you have an aftermarket intake then the sound is completely normal. It is just the diverter valves dumping excess pressure back into your intake pipes.

If you are running the stock intake then you might want to double check the hose clamps and filter lid on the airbox. If they are loose it seems feasible that you would hear the DVs. If everything checks out with air box then I wouldn’t worry about it too much. It might just be that you have really good ears.

I hear that kind of thing too, but I only started hearing it after I put in my filter.

Had the forge on my s4 and they do sound a bit louder. Just make sure your vacuum hoses aren't kinked and the o-rings are nice and lubed up with silicone grease.

Just because you don't have the diverters vented to atmosphere doesn't mean you won't hear them every now and again. Hell, I can hear my stock one sometimes.

Is it maybe something like now that is warm out and you have your windows down you can hear it vs. not being able to with them up?

you can most certainly hear them (along with the turbo's) with more boost in the right conditions. i'm not sure what the obsession is with turbo boost noise. maybe the whole fast n furious movie but bmw really doesn't fit in with that image even though the motor is very similar to the supra

i guess after driving poorly insulated highly boosted cars for the last 10 years you kinda get over it. i'd probably find it amusing for 10 minutes then put it back to stock on the 335i which is why i haven't even considered it.

i like the car being quiet on the inside.
