I hate the time changes!

Resetting 18 time pieces, including the clocks in my cars, is a PITA!
I vote for standard time all year!

I'm always amazed how many people hate Day Light Savings, which is no longer needed, but won't get rid of it.

Should just be one time or another. The whole changing time thing is more work than it's worth, though I do like our summers and being outside in daylight at 9pm.

Perhaps you should consider selling a few timepieces

I dunno, 2 of my 3 cars reset themselves and the 3rd has a "daylight savings" setting so it is a simple menu change.

All that said; I agree it is an archaic process we really just need to get rid of at this point, it doesn't actually help anyone anymore.

Anybody know what times you are not supposed to change an automatic watch? I forget exactly but something like midnight til 2AM is really bad because the date is changing itself.

Ha! I wonder what that would look like in about 10 years.

I vote for a mechanical perpetual calendar movement that sets daylight savings automatically based on your current timezone, location, or watch setting. Perhaps such movement does exist already but didn't make it to mass production since it doesn't make business sense. I think the Glashütte Original Grande Cosmopolite Tourbillon Watch is close enough.

You have some very unforgiving cats.

Did you time yourself changing times on timepieces?

LOL, good one!

But to answer your question, no. I'm retired, so I take
my time and do whatever I want, when I want.

I don't bother to adjust the time settings in my car , it shows "summer" not gloomy reminder of dark days .
Standard time is great yes may be it's still dark even at 07:00 but it's better to have a late sunset to me .

Depends on the movement (watch). Avoid 9pm to 3am as a general rule.

Daylight hours and you'll be very safe

EDIT: the restriction is generally for changing the date only. Unless you have a _very fragile_ movement, you can change the time anytime.

Even if someone did make a movement to compensate for daylight savings, it would only be as good as if none of the law makers monkeys around on when daylight savings is supposed to happen.

Remember, daylight savings was changed to a few years ago so it would happen earlier in the year and the rollback later in the year. I remember this well as I had to update firmware on network equipment to deal with the change. Some manufacturers updated when the new daylight savings happened, others now have you enter the date to deal with any future changes.

Thinking of movements that do daylight savings, I actually do have a watch which is supposed to compensate for daylight savings automatically. It's a Citizens that syncs via RF to the atomic clock broadcasts.

I know it's not exactly what you want, but the ulysse nardin perpetual has pushers on the side which advances or reduces the time in one hour increments.

So on a daylight savings change it's a push of one button on your mechanical perpetual calendar to correct the time.

Well, in 24 years we would gain one day...

Any atomic watch will automatically set itself for daylight savings; since they all connect to the atomic clock transmitter.

That's right, thanks for reminding me. I only really get into trouble when I am doing some crazy travelling and land somewhere, no idea if my watch is at AM or PM after going NY to HK or something, that I ever have occasion to even do that.

Time change pisses me off because now it gets dark at 4:00. Go to work in the dark, go home in the dark, and it is only November.
