Straight Piped my 2020 X5 M50i

Hi all. I decided to give this a shot as I could always go back to my stock setup if I didn't like it. Let me tell you it sounds amazing. The only problem I'm having is my exhaust flap/valve on the left hand side seems to be rattling very badly upon startup or revs. You can't hear it from inside the vehicle but I'd love to eliminate this outside.

Searched all over and I'm not even sure unplugging the valve or leaving it open will fix the rattle. Maybe the fixing bow??? - The little metal hook that moves the actuator?

If this would be gone it would be amazing. It already is vs the stock setup. Not crazy loud just sounds incredible.

Any thoughts on the fix?

What did you eliminate? The stock resonator? Cans? Any video of the sound?

I left the resonator. I did a muffler delete. So straight piped from the resonator to the quad stock exhaust tips. New pipes are welded right behind the exhaust valve location. I'll have to try to grab some pics

Here is a vid of cold start up and then revs in sport plus mode. The rattling is much more noticeable in person. It's a little hard to tell in the vid.

I have been thinking of doing a straight pipe in the absence of a sport exhaust for my x40i. I had done that on my E90 LCI and I liked it without spending an arm and a leg for a sports exhaust.

It sounds decent at idle. When you rev it, is that the rattle at the end you are talking about? It sounds off at the end of a rev.

It's tough to differentiate between the pops and crackles in the actual exhaust vs the rattle when watching the video. It's easier to tell in person.

The main time you hear it is during a cold start when it idles high.

I can try to get some pics. It's hard to get a good angle. Essentially what I did was cut the muffler off but left the factory quad tips including the flaps and sensors. Ran a straight pipe down to the quad tips, welded a Y pipe on each side to go from a single pipe to 2 pipes. Welded that y pipe into the factory quad tips. No sensor problems at all

It sounds good. I would think you would be a lot happier leaving the muffler but cutting the whole mid pipe off with the secondaries cut off. It would sound a lot cleaner.

I'm putting ceramic brake pads on and it's the same shop that did my muffler delete. I'm going to ask them about welding the flaps open to keep them that way, then I can just disconnect the plug that would normally activate them.
