Adding X5 to BMW Connected App Pre-Delivery

Has anyone been able to successfully add their X5 to their BMW Connected app after the car has been built, but before it has arrived at the dealership? I've seen some users post that they were able to add their car to the app while it was still in transit from SC to the dealer, but not sure how this is possible since the app sends a 6-digit code to the car when you're trying to add the car to the app, and you have to have physical access to the car to be able to enter the code back into the app (i.e., duo factor authentication). Anyone have tips on how I can add the car without this code? Thanks!

Usually the dealer needs to add the car to the system too. The 7 digit pin is part of the puzzle, but then you need the code that display in the car, but it starts with the dealer adding the car to the connected drive account with the services.

I was able to do this but my car was at the PDC for a few weeks so I'm assuming someone there set it up. I remember downloading the app and it gave me a message about the activation code in the car. This was pre production. So I just Uninstalled the app and thought I would just wait. However after I knew the car was done with production I reinstalled the app and it worked. Don't ask me how. I just know I was able to track the car from the factory parking lot to the PCD parking lot to the PCD building delivery bay. The only thing I couldn't do was the 3d remote view because you have to agree to those at the car.

This. My car wasn't ordered, but the second my CA set up the car I was able to add it to the App, before I picked it up.

I had actually gotten an email with the subject: "Your registration with BMW ConnectedDrive." Then logged into my account (which I hadn't used in 3 years) and the car was there.

Here's how accurate the GPS was. This was 2 days before my PCD date. [IMG][/IMG]

My VIN locates but unable to add car due to the code on display screen. Will try the above remove/add app idea, but if not, no harm as will take care of this during PCD.

yep, just like you I was also able to add it to my CD account before delivery because I assume the PCD guys set it up. The only thing it didnt do was the remote 3D view (which barely works most of the time anyway unless you're parked under the clear blue sky). I didn't check the GPS, I wish I had. the only thing I got to see was when the car was fully fueled a day before our PCD.

I did this 2-3 weeks prior to PCD. Could track the vehicle every time they moved it or when it was in the PC shop for PDI and detail.

Thanks everyone! It sounds like there is a common theme here. Those who did PCD were able to connect their car to the Connected App without the code, likely because you signed the lease/purchase agreement prior to pickup, which allowed your dealership to activate the My Connected services on the car and link it to your account. I believe if they do this, it automatically adds the car to the app without having to put in a duo authentication code. This explains it.
