Sometimes my scroll wheel just won't respond, nor will my phone button or media button.

And then a few seconds later, they will work fine.

I tried seeing if this was happening in different wheel positions, but its not.

Just randomly while the steering wheel is completely centered.


I feel like Im posting so much about random little issues. Between the high pitched electric noise, the engine turning off when the door opens, and now the random media buttons work when they feel like it.

Also, the auto heated seats and wheel also seem to work whenever they feel like it. I have them set below 36 degrees and sometimes they will turn on like if Im driving to the store, they will turn on. I get out, do my shopping and come back and the seats and wheel wont turn on automatically even tho the weather is below 36.

Very strange behavior...Ultimate Annoying Machine.

The car itself drives great. Its these little electrical bullshits that annoy me.

Try rebooting iDrive and see if any of them disappear.

This is the one where you get in the car and hit start without hitting the brake?

Then you hold down the volume button for 30 seconds?

I just did it now in my garage, but there was no confirmation it was a reboot. I had to press the power button again to start it up. Should I do it with engine on?

Also the problem didn't happen but...its random.

No need to hit start although it can be done with or without the engine running. You just need to hold the volume button in for 30 seconds or so. You will see the control display go off and then come back a little later as well as seeing changes in the IC.

What changes will be in the IC. When I did the restart it looked like a normal start to me.

It will be a normal start and everything will look as it should. I was referring to during the reboot process you will either see it go black/flashing at some point during the reboot. IT used to go totally black even while driving but now I think it just flashes/redraws.

So I did a reboot while driving and it seems to have solved the problem. I couldn't get the controls to lock up at all today. They were quite responsive actually.

So is this 30 second reboot different than shutting the car off completely and coming back to it later? I thought they did the same thing. Perhaps not?

I did take a small salt rock to the windshield today and it left a palpable scratch...feelsbadman.

Excellent, the reboots have fixed many things. That is a sleep reset which is different however I'm not sure the details are known.
