oh yeah got it mixed up. this is the flagship one with the really weird interior concept. well then by all means bmw should price this as high as possible, hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Have a look at the iNEXT prototype up close and personal, with the first spied look at its interior appearing more conventional than the concept iNEXT's dashboard. This is however, still a very early stage prototype and with BMW calling the iNEXT its technology flagship, expect the interior to show off more technology and forward-looking design as the prototype advances in testing. And check out the iNEXT logo on the steering wheel.

Both the iNEXT and upcoming i4 will offer a driving range of over 600 kilometers / 373 miles per charge (based on the European WLTP test cycle so EPA mileage ratings for the US market will vary). The iNext will feature Level 3 (hands-off -- autonomous driving).

The iNEXT is scheduled to begin production in 2021 at the Dingolfing plant.

I was hoping the interior would still be futuristic, but it's still years away so anything can happen.

Agreed, but it does look anything but the future, hopefully this is just thrown together parts, to test the EV? It is supposed to be a tech flagship right?!

So the i4 is a sedan/GT body, and the iNEXT is a small SUV?

Compared to the eTron, iPace, and EQC, the iNEXT will accelerate faster and have a greater range...

As long as this thing doesn't look like a freak show, if you're in the market for an electric people hauler, this thing should be a no-brainer!

The iX3, which is exactly the same size as an X3, will arrive first and become the entry level BMW electric SUV. The iNEXT is further upmarket and somewhat larger - somewhere between X5 and X7 size, I believe. So it will not be a small SUV.

Ahhh...gotcha, makes sense, thanks.

It's hard to determine the size based on camo, as I originally thought it looked GLC sized, but upon closer inspection, it does seem to be a size larger...

I like it and wouldn't mind getting one as long as it's named like a BMW and not a Hyundai. iX8 should be a perfect name as someone else pointed out already.

The camouflage does an excellent job hiding the details of the final design elements. Looking forward to more details and pictures. The production cannot start soon enough.

ix6 or iX8? It's big but not huge (in-between X5 and X7), so even if it's going to be positioned at the high-end of the BMWi lineup in the short term, it might be wise to save the iX8 moniker for potentially a larger model in the future.

True, but the X2 is smaller than the X1 and still gets a superior badge. If the iNext is to the X7 what the X2 is to the X1, calling it an iX8 would make sense, especially considering that this is going to be their flagship SUV.

Hard to get xcited yet.

The interior will most likely look nothing like that.

Yes, the X2, while shorter, is marketed above the X1 because it's the coupé version of the X1, just like the 4 Series, though shorter, is marketed above the 3 Series because it is its coupé version. This vehicle isn't a direct coupé version of the X7, in fact rumor is suggesting an actual X8 is being developed.

I'm aware that this model will be BMWi's new flagship (i8 aside) and is supposed to introduce visionary tech and interior design, so it does make sense to give it the highest digit in BMW's repertoire so far (8). I'm just not quite sure that this is the largest and most spacious that a BMWi SUV would get in the mid/long-term, the SUV frenzy is far from over and there may be room for a larger model above. Now of course BMW might as well name this imminent model iX8 then potentially switch the next generation to iX6 if a larger model happens to be green-lighted in the meantime.
