Need Help - Head Unit (HU_MGU) disappeared!

2021 X5 x40i, with most assisted driving options
Using Protools with a MHD adapter.

During or after an attempted rest to factory original code, the HU_MGU module has disappeared from the Protools listing. Additionally, the nav screen is not on, the dash has the most basic display and the signal lever button doesn't change it, the cameras don't pick up speed signs so the cruise control SET button doesn't work, and the radio doesn't work.
A bit of history.
changed VO to enable anti-dazzle. Worked, then changed VO back to original
Coded BDC, SAS, VIP and HU to enable aSLA, which worked.
Today tried coding to enable UCC, but an error 0x00 occurred, so after a couple of tries I recoded all the entries back to original. The error recurred so I did a factory reset of all the affected modules, and this seemed OK.
So at this point I should have been back at the original configuration
Edited VO to enable anti dazzle and confirmed recoding the two modules affected by the VO change
Got a 0x00 error, at which point I changed the VO back to original, and the HU_MGU not longer appeared and the screen went blank, as described above.
I have tried reloading the original VO and the original coding in all the modules, but the HU isn't there.
I noticed in the file EcuData_12_05_pm.txt that while the HU_MGC ECU is listed, there is a comment " CAFD : NO CAFD FOUND"
Also, " NO CAFD FOUND " for IDrive contr5oller, the Central Gateway, Battery control unit (BATT48).
I tried disconnecting both batteries for about 5 minutes hoping to trigger a factory reset of everything, but that didn't seem to accomplish anything.
Maybe disconnect for longer??

Any brilliant ideas out there?

After working on this with help from two experts, conclusion was that the HU_MGU isn't responding and the dealer needs to get involved.
At the dealer, the car was updated fully, but the head unit still wasn't communicating.

Apparently something happened during my coding session to brick the head unit ECU, so a new one is on order at a cost hard to swallow.

Sorry to hear that, I hope it all works out well now.
