Is now a bad time for X5?

Hi,

I'm looking to trade my F80 in for a X5.

Is there a new model coming out soon? Is now a bad time to buy?

It's a good time depending on your needs. The LCI came out last year with the 24MY. The model year is changing to 25 starting in April, but it's predicted to have very few changes given the LCI just came out.

So you can either get the 24 LCI likely at a decent discount, or wait a couple weeks and order a 25 right as they come out.

Depends on what's more valuable to you. But you're not going to miss out on major changes if you buy now, regardless of getting a 24 or 25.

Are 50e allocations really hard to get or something? I barely see any for sale

There have been no 50e allocations since production is very limited due to supply chain issues. Things should hopefully start getting back to normal in April.

Many dealers were charging MSRP prior to the production issues and would imagine with them and the new MY you are likely looking at MSRP being common for awhile.

There a a bunch of us who ordered in Dec and are still waiting for our 50e. Guessing many of us will keep our orders for MY25. The wait is killing me though as I'm worried those supply chain issues will still be here in April.

if you are in 105 at the beginning of March they should issue you a new production number for a MY25. You will have price protection from BMW and hopefully the dealer passes that along.

Not a bad time if you’re a cash buyer

Depends on your use case and if you consistently have access to charging. Unless your charging is free, you will want to run the numbers to see if the EV miles will be more expensive than just using gas.

If you live in an apartment and considering buying an X5, you're doing it wrong.

I see people mentioning that MY25 starts production in April. Anyone know when the dealers will get the order guide/pricing?

I was at BMW yesterday and they told me a new X5 was coming for 2025 not sure if she meant full redesign or just a mid refresh but may be worth waiting.

Model year '25 is a continuation of the current '24 LCI. The only known enhancement is lane change assist via eye movement. Possibly a new color or two???

Welcome to the forum. As mentioned above, the refresh was for MY24. MY25 will start production in April. The next redesign will be in August of 26.

Maybe she misspoke but she stated X2 and X5, but I’m new to all things BMW.

Regarding the next major redesign in August of 2026, that will be into production as a 2028 model in March/April 2027?

X3 will be new for 2025.

X5 just got refreshed for 2024. Likely no changes for 2025.

Dealership knowledge varies from person to person.
