I'm going to say no, you can't. I've never been able to go from, say, Bronze to Silver just by playing for a long time on my own.

You can however, team up with a friend and receive 5 NEW placement matches as a DUO. For example, Megaman and I teamed up and got into Gold 2v2 qualifications (now A.K.A. Platinum league). This was back when I just started SC II and managed to qualify into Bronze league after my 5 placement matches.

Once you rank up with friend you'll find that when you go back to your solo ladder games with random teammates, you'll be placed a bit higher. But no, I haven't seen anybody being given 5 completely new placements matches to rank up a league on their own.

Try not to screw up your placement matches...

but after you have first place for a couple wins you will advance to a higher league.

Almost 1 month till it's released....

You can move up divisions from bronze to silver etc. You need to get into the top spot and win a few there. I did it with a friend from plat to diamond a few patches ago. It is a bit of a pain in the ass because the top plat are far better than the bottom diamond players.

Take the SC2 Dominion Entrance Exam! I'm a Ghost. My sister is a Marine! LOL!

The Beta is up and running again...my sister and I will be playing the account together. So...if you play with me, you'll have to deal with it, I am slow to build and even slower to figure out what's going on.

I'm the only one who can make an hour game out of playing with the CPU on easy.

Ah, Battle.net just went down for maintenance...maybe up later tonight? Any one know?

Hmm, I don't remember exactly. My other friend took it and was a Firebat. We're LAN'ing it up over here today. Played a few games already...taking a break.

Starcraft 1 (BNET is still maintenance for SC2)

I always get rushed at the start, but my allies help me out (we're playing against the computer). We found the AI isn't completely stupid! After a couple of games of me getting rushed and killed at the beginning, everyone sent their units to me at the start of a game. The computer went for someone else knowing everyone was at my base!

It's a lot of fun! Our set up is a little strange, with 3 computers in one room, and 2 in another. We're always shouting at each other because it's faster than typing. We probably sound really nerdy to anyone walking passed our house. "Snipe the Queen, Snipe the Queen!"

Oh! The most important thing I learned today, is just don't right click to move your guys. They don't fight back if you do!

I found a way to get into the beta!!!!


1. Go to the login screen.
2. Type your email for your account in.
3. Get a heavy object and leave it on the enter key.
4. Get a snack or watch TV.
5. Come back and see the password box open.
6. Type your PW and you are in, start playing with the other 3 people that know the secret also.

It has a bunch of cool features.. I like it.


You gotta configure opera to do the features however, it takes like 2 minutes if you know what you are doing. If you know how to use it... It is the best browser IMO.

Unfortunately, my sister who plays, and I will both be in Japan. My younger sister is staying behind but she doesn't play games.

I'm sure my older sister will buy a copy of Starcraft 2 in Japan, but as I understand the games are going to be region coded, so she'll be playing with Australia, Japan, Korea, China area.

The lag from playing from Japan to the US could also be really bad!

It'll be interesting though when we come back to the US, how her play style will have differed from your guys'. I understand the game, but I'm just not good at it (I think I'm not fast enough). Zerg is more popular in Asia, and was considered OP in the beta; but here in the US Protoss is more popular and was considered OP. I wonder what a player from Asia would be like on US servers, and vice-versa.
