Changed the oil and air filter

2020 xdrive40i with 47,xxx miles. Had the car since June of last summer. It's certified. Used Liqui Moly 0w-20 with OEM oil filter and Mann air filter. Everything went well, but I was surprised to see the air filter so dirty. Only put 7k miles on the car since the purchase. Something is telling me that they never replaced it at all. Also, the date stamp on the old air filter is 2019

The certified service history, if the dealer shared with you would tell you what service was performed during certification process.

Yeah, I just pulled that up, they didn't change it and noted the next change was due in 8,xxx miles. I thought they addressed things like that during the certification process, but I guess not everything

They usually bring the car to spec and address or change what is due or requires correction. I looked into my sheet as well when I was purchasing my CPO.

Wow, that's one messed up used/dirty filter. Good that you replaced it.

I think the old filter was always gray vs the new one is white? Meaning it’s the color and not all dirt.

Color is much too uniform to be from dirt, my guessis the gray is OE and the white is OEM??
(OE would be the same manufacturer but comes in a BMW box w/ BMW p/n)

Yeah, I know the color is from factory, it's about to much dirt that is visible on top and between the slats
