Do you use foul language in front of kids?

I've never thought it was appropriate but it seems like all of our friends who have young kids routinely do.

I would never tell someone how to parent (we don't have kids yet) but it does make me uncomfortable hearing people throw out the F word in front of their 2 year old.

I try not to cuss around the kids but it happens from time to time and they reprimand me. Raised them well.

I try not to swear around anyone, but sometimes I let one fly. However I am extra careful around both elderly and kids. The elderly are often offended, and the young will have plenty of other opportunities to expand their vocabularies.

Absolutely not.
Just make it a habit of not using them at all, regardless of situation/surroundings. Easy then.

If you do it regularly, you’ll do it in front of kids too.

And it's first word is... (the same as it's last will be). "F word is the only word I know."

Cussing is harmless (almost) compared to other things a person can do when they lose their temper. Remember, I said "compared to."

When my kids were little I tried not to cuss around them. It is disrespectful and kids are also impressionable and pick things up quickly.

Now I cuss on a regular basis. Great way to harmlessly vent, IMO.

I try not to, but I work in profanity the way others artists work in oils or clay. It is my true medium.

Once my daughter hit 13 (my son is 17), my wife and I started cussing quite a bit more around them. We don't cuss at them though. We might just cuss in conversation. We don't use the F word though. We've told our kids that it is ok to cuss in certain situations, especially when there's some passion, emphasis, etc. needed. We've told them that they need to understand their audience too before proceeding.

Knowing how to read the room is great advice for every situation.

I'm and Aussie, what do you fucken reckon?

Seriously though, I made a conscious decision not to swear around my Son and he is now 21 and I, on the whole, did pretty well at it. I still don't but he does here me sometimes particularly when I am watching sport on TV or playing COD.

My Wife on the hand swears in front of him now and then and usually at him!

I curse like a sailor but I know my audience. F@cking is an adjective. I do not curse in front of children. That being said, I was sitting at a bar in a restaurant years ago with my friends. It was a Saturday night at about 10:00 pm. My friends and I were having a conversation and I said something off color in jest. Might have been that someone was bucking for a BJ. Anyway, it seems there was a couple waiting for a table at the bar with their 8 year old daughter. At first I was apologetic. I would never do that intentionally. The wife got her panties in a wad and pushed her husband to say something. I had my back to her so I didn’t know there was a kid around. Then it struck me. Your kid does not belong sitting at a bar at 10:00 pm on a Saturday night. You and your daughter should be sitting in the waiting area, not at the bar. And I told him so.

Come on guys? Am I wrong? Who expects an 8 year old to be sitting at a bar at 10:00 pm on a Saturday night? I blame the bartenders too in addition to the parents. Although it was a restaurant, the bar had a bar crowd. And had a huge separate area for people waiting for tables. There was no reason for that child to be sitting at the bar.

No, you're right.

Shouldn't be there.
