Ok, update: The new amp was installed on Wednesday in my M550. Since then, I have not experienced the audio dropping/distortion issue that existed before. Yesterday I did a fair amount of driving in an effort to assess whether it was fixed; It previously did not happen on every drive, but generally it would have happened in the amount of driving I have done. So, I am cautiously optimistic the new part does, in fact, correct the problem.
It also seems to me that the system is louder, i.e., I don’t have to have the volume bar as close to max to achieve the desired volume. It always seemed like it needed to be turned up more than on my 2018 540. I have read that the spec for the 2021 reduces the power of the amp from prior levels. Curious if that could have caused the problems many of us have experienced and if the new amp is putting out the prior power level. |

Has BMW issued an official recall in any country? I want to share it with our local ministry of commerce. They usually who communicate with BMW local dealer to issue an official recall.

I tend to listen to Audible most of the time I’m driving or I think it would be much more noticeable for me. The last few times I’ve played music I haven’t had the bass cut off permanently (until I restarted the car) as it did the first time. Instead the bass is occasionally dropping for a few seconds at a time, up to 10-15 seconds at most. I wanted to get this in here in case others have this happen as well. I’m hoping the amp swap is the solution, and will bring it to the dealer once others can verify that solves their issues.
Just some further info, when I play music I always use the IDrive Spotify app. |

If all the cars are BMWs then this is something specifically related to BMW's hardware vendor or a BMW integration/configuration issue. I've owned a slew of American and Asian cars in my 64 years and have never had this issue on any of my cars ever. Including my current BMW X7 40i. Maybe I just got lucky. However, I've driven 21K miles so far and haven't had it happen once. |

After owning my car for over 2 years, this happens to me last night (about 1 month since OTA update). Rebooting idrive didn’t work. Parked car and drove again a few hours later everything was normal. 🤷🏻*♂️

"Me too." Noticed that music sounded odd, tried adjusting the bass setting - it had no effect on the sound. After 15 minutes in the grocery shop, it was back to normal.
Has replacing the amp solved the problem permanently? |

If you are still experiencing this issue, know that you can download the fault codes yourself (for some vehicles)
Go to: https://mygarage.bmwusa.com/car-data.html I am experiencing this issue and will be taking my G05 in. When I downloaded the data above, I saw that there were several fault codes for the "Receiver Audio Module" ECU Variant RAM01 https://mygarage.bmwusa.com/car-data.html Who has access to this data? With BMW CarData, customers always have an overview of the telematics data that their vehicle sends to BMW as part of BMW ConnectedDrive services and that is stored there. Customers can request a BMW CarData report at any time so they know what telematics data BMW has currently stored for their vehicle. Third parties can access selected telematics data in order to offer you personalized services - provided that you explicitly direct BMW to release this data to this third party. You alone decide to whom you entrust your data. The telematics data will not be forwarded to any third parties other than those to which you have directed BMW to send data. ref: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...0&d=1608933253 3.3.2. Receiver Audio Module (RAM) The Receiver Audio Module (RAM) is a control unit and part of the infotainment system. The Receiver Audio Module (RAM) is an audio amplifier with integrated tuners and an integrated sound processor. The Receiver Audio Module (RAM) also contains Active Sound Design (ASD), and therefore an additional control unit is not required. The Receiver Audio Module (RAM) comes in a variety of versions and power levels. Versions and power levels: • RAM BASIC • RAM MID • RAM HIGH Depending on the number and power of the speakers, a booster, to which the audio data are streamed via an Ethernet connection, is additionally installed. 3.3.3. Booster An additional booster is installed, depending on the audio variant. Normally there is no booster for stereo and hi-fi. However, if an outside speaker is required for the outside sound on a vehicle, depending on the engine version, a booster is installed. For "Harman Kardon Surround Sound system" and "Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system" (SA 6F1) the corresponding booster is installed. Last edited by thomas_Rp; 12-03-2021 at 12:14 AM.. |

Waking this thread up to see if anyone has a fix. Not only does my 2021 X5 loose the sub every now and then, I also had this problem in previous X5s.
Reboot of iDrive does nothing. X5 needs to sit a while and then the sub wakes up after starting the car. Weird problem. |
