I have four Michelin X-Ice 205/55R16 tires mounted on Factory 16" BMW wheels. There is plenty of usable tread for snow. I only used them a couple seasons and have since sold my car.

I believe TPMS is installed, but I believe it's the system used prior to the 2010 model year, so I can't say if it's functional.

I am interested. How old are the tires and what is the current tread depth? Stored in the garage, I am guessing?

Thank you!

PM Sent...I've had them for 3 years, I bought them off someone that used them for two seasons. I've only used them for two seasons and I didn't put many miles on them. They've been stored in a sealed shed, so they're definitely out of the elements and protected.

I don't have a tread depth device. You can see the wear indicators in the pictures. The taller indicator is at 6/32 & the shorter ones are 2/32. From that I'd say they have at least 8mm of tread remaining. They all have about the same amount of wear. They've been rotated.

Got the PM, thank you. Will handle the details there.

One question for the broader community... I am worried that the ride will be much softer on the non run-flats and 16 in wheels. What has folks' experience been in this regard?

First, these are winter tires and a 55 series/ratio sidewall at that... they are going to be a good bit softer in ride than a normal 55 series/ratio sidewall tire and far softer than a 45 or 40 series/ratio.

Second, they are designed to go in the snow. Not take on Summit Point Raceway.

Third, even with these on your car you are not going to be able to drive like you were at Summit Point Raceway while in snow. ie... even with snow tires on you must drive within reason for the conditions and not like you were on dry pavement with sport tires on.

The ride is definitely softer than the OEM Continentals. That's not necessarily a bad thing when dealing with potholes and rough roads in the winter. The steering response and ultimate grip on dry pavement will be less. The tread compound is suited to temps below 42f. On snow and ice these will perform much better than all seasons. Tirerack has some comparison videos demonstrating this.
