21 inch wheels tyre option

So, weird one perhaps.
I have 21 inch alloys (bmw one)
I currently run the following tyre sizes
Front
275 40 21 (y)

Rear
315 35 21 (y)

I am looking at new tyres and some places online suggest I can have
295 35 21 on the rears? Is that true - can they just be swapped out as different widths?

i don't know what the exact tolerance of the xDrive system is but running 275/40R21 fronts with 295/35R21 rears doesn't look right.

If going 295 35 21 on the back, the closest match available for fronts is 265 40 21 on the fronts (can't get 255 40 21 which would have kept the radius the same).

That would be within 0.7% of each other. 2% is too big a difference for me to be comfortable with personally. Less than 1% and I would feel more comfortable as that is what BMW used to suggest was okay on previous x-drive cars.

Yeah they will fit on the 21's no problem.
