Do I need to disconnect the battery before replacing headlights?

I recently bought a used 2019 X5 with laserlight from CarMax, however, after I bought it I noticed that the drivers side headlight beam pattern is different from the passenger side. The car was involved in a minor fender bender with the previous owner and there was no physical damage. I'm guessing the two led modules in the drivers side headlight are misaligned causing the uneven beam pattern, and there is no way to adjust them individually.

I ended up finding a used laser headlight in perfect condition on eBay for $1300 and I'm going to swap them this weekend and reuse the old modules so I don't need to worry about recoding.

What I'm wondering is do I need to disconnect the battery before removing the front bumper and headlights? I've seen multiple people do the LED to laserlight retrofit but haven't mentioned if they disconnected the battery first. If I need to it's not a big deal, but I read somewhere that the sunroof and windows need to be recalibrated after.

Sunroof & windows didn't need any recalibration on my car - I've disconnected the battery probably 7+ times as I was doing a lot steering wheel removal/refitting once.

I've disconnected the battery twice and nothing required calibration afterwards. On my nissan though, the windows need to be reset as they lose auto roll feature if the battery remains disconnected for more than 5 mins.

The driver's headlight pattern should different from the passenger side so that you don't blind oncoming traffic.

No, you don't need to disconnect the battery.

That's all done in the headlight beam pattern, which should be identical on both sides. It usually slopes up left to right for LHD roads depending on the car.

This is what my beam pattern should look like:

That would be ideal. No risk of damaging anything or throwing a code then?

I wouldn't think so, there is nothing that I can see in the procedures for disconnecting the batteries.
