Question Seat Back Cover Recommendations

I purchased a 2021 X5 xDrive40i this week and am in love! I also have a 3 year old that kicks the back of the front car seats while we drive. Yes, I still love him despite that fact.

After a cursory search, I do not see any posts with seat back cover / "kick matt" recommendations.

Does anyone have experience with covers that are reasonably attractive that will help me protect my beautiful new car?

Thank you!

Whatever kick mat protection you use, just make sure to pay attention to how it's attached to the seats. I've seen some that had cheap straps that were fairly rough to the touch, and I'd be concerned that they might mar the leather.

That looks like a sharp recommendation, thanks!

Great point. Most seem to connect around the headrest and have clear rub points on the leather near the top of the seat. The only way around this might be a rigid brace on the headrest pylons that the strap then connect to. I'll have to do some more research.

You can always attach a soft cloth where it might rub on the leather, you can sew it on or whatever. I'd stay away from those that have built in pockets though, three year olds would love to play with whatever may be stored in the pockets, like ice scrapers

Ended up picking this protector up. I’ll report back with my review.

I’ve used these in a few other vehicles and they worked ok. In the end though I’ve stopped using any and just clean off the seat backs every couple of weeks. My kids don’t abuse the back of the seats but they do still get dusty/shoe prints on them and I’d rather clean them up than have the protectors on there as I don’t care for the look.

I agree - the look isn’t my favorite either, but my son is in a seat kicking phase and until he grows out of it a layer of protection is worth the eye sore.
