help me out with comfort access question 🙏

My 2019 has comfort access But on my x3 all I needed to do was key in pocket and touch door handle in the two places to lock/unlock simple!
Now on my x5 it does not work !
I've contacted dealer who said key in pocket walk away lock / approach unlock has replaced the need to touch handle lock/unlock function , is that correct ? Its driving me mad as surely if I don't want to use that functionality as say kids in car when I nip out, surely the touch door thing should still work ??

That is a new feature on the X5, but you can turn it off and operate it just like your X3 if you'd like. These options are accessible in iDrive.

that feature eliminate having to touch the handle when locking. cant get any more simple than that. we've learn to love it! we rarely leave people in the car and if we do, car is usually running or we leave the key in the car.

as mentioned, you can change it in the idrive.

I have mine set to unlock when I get near but never lock when walking away. I always want to touch the door handle to confirm my vehicle is locked. Peace of mind.

Even if you have the new method set up in your idrive you can continue to lock/unlock the car by touching the door handle.

Some times my car does not detect my key as I approach so i need to grab the handle to open.

For piece of mind I have set the acoustic option so my car double beeps when it unlocks and a single beep when it locks

Point is, it is obviously a good idea this is individually configurable and all these permutations and more are possible with setup.

There's a setting in idrive that automatically locks the vehicle after a few minutes of inactivity
