Paint Damage (corrosion on roof panel)

Turns out the wierd bubbling was due to corrosion on the roof.

The dealer has offered to fix it and repaint without updating car fax.

I had also previously applied ceramic coating already too...

Anyone else experience something like this or have any tips?

How does corrosion likes this even happen???

Could be where you park and something dripping overhead for sure as previously mentioned. The spot in the lower left though looks very much like buffer burn through. Could have been done during paint correction as part of the ceramic coating.

That would have to be some pretty insane paint correction to cause that much damage. Along the lines of a woold pad on a rotary buffer. I'd be worried about how much clear coat the rest of the car would have lost in the process.

Never underestimate the power of stupidity. Edges are the easiest to damage, especially if there's a raised hard edge next to a dip. That edge takes all of the abuse. I wasn't there so knows what went on but it does look like a mechanical mark, color sanding or buffing. Someone could have gotten pretty aggressive trying to remove that other staining.

OP profile :shows '23.

Be curious on the timeline of delivery. Who coated it....prepped, polished it....etc
A closer look at the pic, I can't make out if this is a horizontal or vert panel. Doesn't appear to be roof

So by before picture, you mean before the dealer sanded it down to identify what was underneath the spot? I think that solves the mystery as to why it looked sanded/buffed down.

The picture is terrible so hard to tell but it looks like a factory defect. Did you notice that before you had them ceramic coat it?
