Unless you need to go off-road. In that case, the RR will wipe the floor with the X5. However, I agree, I prefer the overall driving dynamics and iDrive of the X5. However, I prefer the exterior styling and interior of the RR-Sport. When I bought my X5 (lightly used), the V8 RR-Sports were at least $10K more expensive (used RR-Sports in the US are more expensive than X5 because there are so many well-optioned X5 being leased and returned). So I am not complaining one bit. LOL. In fact, I can get a 2019 X7 40i (almost fully loaded) for less than the V6 RR-Sport with just the basic options. The X5 and X7 are just better values IMHO.

What are some important features that are turned on in the European version but not in the US version. It's nice to watch these reviews, just to find out somethings are not available in the US. I know there are some things with the laser lights, but I believe I heard something about DAPP too.

Car and Driver: Tested: 2021 BMW X5 xDrive45e Prioritizes Quickness and Range

LINK

Quote:
Some PHEVs are clearly optimized for performance. Others strive for ultimate efficiency. The X5 xDrive 45e doesn't really fit into either category—it's not the performance flagship of its lineup, and in hybrid mode it can't match the fuel economy of the non-hybrid. Where it makes its case is as a part-time EV, silently plying the suburbs and school drop-off lines, until it's time to light the fuse on 389 horsepower and drive it like a BMW.

Totally agree with the assessment! The X45e is a very compelling overall value prop.

Not that I'm surprised, but there have to be a lot of Porsche Cayenne Turbo owners that are not very happy after viewing that video.

Can anyone tell me when (or what model year) the X5 will have (a) a facelift, and (b) a redesign? Thanks.

I believe the LCI for G05 will start in 2023 with the MY24 model

There’s one in another thread from a German guy (actor?) who my wife recognized from some show…. Really thorough review of features and driving modes. Will try to find it and link to it here.

Edit: Finally found it on youtube:

Thomas is a long-time auto reviewer and auto journo and I believe the founder of Autogefuhl

He does make marketing material, though, including for BMW, for example here's the producer & narrator here:

Motorweek tested the 0-60 at 4.7 seconds...that's quite a bit faster than what BMW advertises at 5.3.

BMW seems to be known for understating things like the 0-60 times. IOW, you'd likely have one of the outliers in power if you 'only' got the listed times. Temperature and road surface along with tires can make a difference, too.
