Can anyone tell me if the laserlights are region specific I.e. what lights work for RHD in the UK?

I can get a set of laserlights without the yellow laser warning, which I believe are euro spec lights. Will these work for the U.K.?

Did you check the part numbers for UK and EU spec lights? If different, then region specific.

I am not sure if there are region specific versions, but i do have a setting in Idrive to change the lights to LHD or RHD.
Makes sense, or no one from europe with the laser lights would be able to drive in the UK.

Hi Guys,

New G05 owner. I've done a lot of reading, but can't seem to get a clear answer. I understand that coding will be needed if retrofitting from base LED to Laserlights. Is there any other hardware needed though?

If the module comes with the laser light, no other parts are needed.
Works with simple swapping and coding.

Unless I am mistaken, I do think that there are physical differences for laserlights depending on the region.

For example, North American laser light include the orange leds on the sides that are turned on... which is not the case in Europe.

I am not sure these can be turned off via coding though... does anyone know?

I agree. My previous 2019 X3 M40i had the adaptive LED headlights. My new 2021 X5M which includes the laser lights in the executive package seems like it works no better than the X3 lights. Save your money.

Thank you all for your help. Bought the car new last week, and first mod is already done. Definitely worth every penny even if not just for the funciton of having laser lights. Had the anti-dazzle feature coded at the same time. These are the EURO spec lights.

To be honest, I've not driven mine at night where it would enable the lasers yet. But, once the DOT approves the proposed changes in the rules (soon? yet?, supposed to have been in October), while I think we still in the US won't see the maximum distance allowed elsewhere, at least some of the functionality will become available. If not, it can be enabled if you can code it yourself. One software module needs to be removed, and a few parameters tweaked to make it all work. FWIW, BImmercode CANNOT do this (I asked, and they said they did not expect to be able to in the future, either).

Now, if BMW offers this as an OTA update, time will tell, but not until the full approval is completed. Maybe only on newly delivered vehicles after the approval has finalized.

Keep in mind that there's a minimum speed limit to enable the lasers to operate, so just turning the high beams on won't do it unless you're going over that speed (37-mph?). Below that, only the LED lamps are on so you can't just check it while stationary.

While we're on this subject, does anyone know if it's possible to make the eyebrow light permanent and switchback?

To clarify, have the eyebrow light up with the two rings permanently, and turn into the amber light when the turn signal is in use?

For anyone interested in upgrading to EURO Spec laser lights, I may be able to put you in touch with someone who can ship them and complete remote coding for around $3k. This includes everything you need. I think that's a great price to improve the look from the base lights.

Hello guys,

I have some doubts about this retrofit.I own a G20 with standard LED without HBA .Can I make this retrofit without any errors?
I understand that it's all plug and play, then, code the 5AZ instead of the standard one and then remove some errors. But what is the case when I don't have the HBA module at all (actually I don't have the left side handle with the A and BC written on it). Will this work?

Hello.
I can't speak for the G20.
However, as far as the G05 is concerned, it can work without error.
You will need a physical switch, so in your case maybe the steering column will have to be replaced as well.

Has anyone adjusted the headlight level manually themselves? In my M3 there was a specific order of things you had to do before actually turning the height adjustment knob on the headlight.

Got a quote back from my BE dealership to retrofit laserlights.
Headlights around €3k each.
Total installation €10k and not supported by BMW.

Not bad for a €1400 factory option.

I don't know where you got that quote from but someone is trying to rip you off. It sounds like it would cost $4k in labor alone?

The headlights are literally plug and play + coding. They use the same wiring harness as the non-lasers that come with the car.

My bodyshop charges $200 to replace them if you don't know how to take off the front bumper and another $150 to code. You should be set for under $3,400, including parts and labor. That's less than 1/3 of the price you were quoted.

Quote by the dealership where I bought the car.

I requested the quote because I ordered adaptive LED based on the salespersons informations combined with missing information from BMW.

I dont agree with the fact that just the outside lights are working and the inside is a dummy. Makes no sense for this premium car.
And BMW is not communicating about it.

They quoted in a way so they shouldnt do it.

I have some more information about this retrofit that I’d like to share. There is no problem to use second hand headlights and LED modules, but it is unable to use both FLM modules from your current LED headlights. They are marked 7933360-0X (and has a label 5D00 down at right) while for the lasers the modules should be 7933361-0X (with label 5CFF). During the adaptation with E-Sys it is required exactly 5CFF as hardware version (see the attached screenshot)

I used 7933361-02 - one brand new that started to work immediately after mounting, but an error appeared that it needs coding. Except coding a reflash was also required. Another FLM module that I used was second hand. It does not start to operate normally because coding was required.

Finally there are no DTCs or any other issues. This retrofit is 100% valid, so don’t be afraid to make it
