Music Hard Disk Size?
The X5 has an internal hard disk for music storage and playback. Anyone know how large (in GB) it is? The manual doesn't say. Thanks.

I am not in my car right now, but I am pretty sure it's 30gig now. I believe you can find the size in the in car manual or by following these instructions from the manual:
Displaying free disk space Display free disk space on the music hard disk. "MEDIA" "Music collection" Press the Option button. "Manage music collection" "Available memory" |

Nice! Published numbers I have seen = 20GB. Looks like BMW was generous with the actual storage.

Yea, first thing I did was import my music library when I took delivery. No one gave me any hard numbers with all my pre delivery research. It was important to me. No need for sd cards or drives with the way BMW has a internal drive for music. I do use a thumb drive for my movie playback.

Seriously? Only 32g? Considering how cheap HDD's and SSD's are, on a $70k+ car they could only come up with 32g?

If 32gb is not enough then plug in a usb stick or stream from your phone or even combo all three. There is lots of options if 32gb isn’t enough. Last edited by MystroX5; 01-16-2019 at 08:05 PM.. |

I'm not a super tech savvy guy. I still use Itunes...not streaming.
I copied a few song files from my pc to an old usb stick to see if I could upload music to the internal hard drive. The Idrive is not even recognizing the usb stick. Thoughts on what I may be missing? |

For those that feel 32GB space is not enough, the system can play music directly from the USB thumb drive. This maybe one way to get around the space limitation.
