Thanks!

It was a bit harder than I thought it would be! And really by that I mean I had to use a lot more force to pop the original ones out than I thought I would. The first one I did took close to 15 minutes as I was trying to be as careful as possible to pop it off and tried every angle possible to attack it from. The second one though, I just gave it a couple of really good pulls and it popped out and had the new one in in under 5 minutes.

So were they just clips holding them (OEM ones) on or clips and 3M tape like the replacement?

Clips and 3M tape for the ones from the factory and the OEM painted replacements.

Phenomenal build, leaving every spectator green with envy. Thanks for sharing!

This is the only exterior color that should come with a free ride on Sikorsky HH-3E Jolly Green Giant.

What a great color. It pops in all the sun you have where you live! Absolutely stunning

It’s great that there are ppl who actually go ahead with their unorthodox choices and make the world (roads) so much more interesting and fun!

Thanks! Yeah, it really pops in the Arizona sunshine, even if it is almost always dusty since we live in the desert.

Hey Chicago. You still glad you got rid of the m3 for the x5? I've been driving the wife's new x5 40i the last few days and I'm just in love with it. I would want the v8 for sure and dynamic handling package but the inline 6 is butter and plenty of giddyup. The refinement and interior is just miles ahead of our f15 x5 even though I like the old school interior it has.

I've had brief thoughts of getting rid of my m3 for an m50 or 60. I wouldn't go x5m I don't think unless I found a smoking deal on a pre lci. I think the m50 or 60 is the sweet spot. I just really love my manual m3 and not sure I can live without it. The performance and luxury of these suvs is just insane now though and I could use it everyday. My m3 of my choice is stored winters and only driven when nice or decent out.

Just curious your thoughts.

Thanks!

There are days where I’ll miss the M3 but overall have zero regrets about making the switch. The M3 is definitely one of the best all around sport sedans, IMHO, but in the end I feel as though the X5 M60i is the better overall daily driver for me. It’s loads of luxury and comfort for the day to day and yet full of sportiness when I want it. That V8 packs a punch and can definitely hold its own…and do it without feeling any bit of squirly-ness while doing it. Just today I had an 80 mile round trip for an appointment and was cruising along on the freeway with ease and comfort, including the massage seats. While the M3 was comfortable too, it wasn’t like this!

The one thing I do miss the most from the M3 is the exhaust note. While I did have the Remus race cat back exhaust on it, and at times it was a bit overbearing, it sounded way better than the V8 on this X5 due to the muted exhaust notes from the factory. I’d really like to get something out on the X5 to wake up that V8 a bit more but I’m also a bit hesitant as I did go a bit too far on the M3…and my wife was already not happy with me even making the comment that the X5 is too quiet for my tastes.

Those are the things I would love. Luxury freight liner every day.

Yeah, I drove my M3 into work this morning after reading your reply. That is what puts a smile on my face is the visceral sound. I have the full Valvetronic exhaust, and the sound is awesome! Plus, the manual equals a great experience for me. One part of me says I wouldn't want to loud of a luxury freight liner suv but the other part would like it to act like the V8 it has under the hood. They are so well insulated though that not sure how loud you'd need it on the outside to be able to enjoy it on the inside and live with it on highway runs etc. Ahh, the little things we obsess over lol.

I don't owe to much more on my M3 and then it would make things easier to own both which would be a great combo! Every time I get a twinkle to get rid of the M3, I drive it and say man I can't get rid of this thing. I look at what I paid for the M and the low interest rate as well a few years ago. To get into a new one or any sports car for that matter at current times I would pay way more than I did for mine. It really eases the mind what I have when I compare it that way.

Anyways thanks for the response and listening to me ramble lol. Being car guys and enthusiast is a great but sometimes complicated relationship.

If you are close to paying off the M3, I’d do that and get the X5 as another vehicle if you have the space. I wish I could have done that and made the M3 a weekend car and the X5 for the daily weekday commute.

Great pics! You found some really interesting locations for the pics.

That added wait for the individual color must have been painful! Looking back on the waits months afterwards it seems like no big deal, but in the moment it's the worst. My dealer pushed back my production 2 weeks just to make sure I got my interior picked out before it changed to 150 before I could get to a dealer for a look and decide. I got to the dealer last night, texted him and was like ok, so you'll move it back to the original date week now right?!?!?! Lol.

What do you think of the gas cap. I've looked at those fancy gas caps and recognize that they will function pretty much exactly the same and I will be the only one know knows I have it so I haven't been able to talk myself into one.

Thanks!

The added wait was absolutely brutal. I had sold the M3 a lot quicker than I thought I would and then didn’t realize at the time the way they batch the individual colors for the X series so that added a lot more time than originally anticipated. I’d definitely do it all over again but would just make sure I place the order well ahead of when I anticipate selling or trading in.

The gas cap is just a cover but I like that it adds that little pop of color when you flip open the lid. Just another fun way to personalize it a bit more.

Picked up a new road bike earlier this month so thought I’d take the opportunity to take some photos of it with the X5.

Please ignore the dirty wheels as I haven’t given the X5 a proper wash in a couple of months due to the summer heat. 🥵

Having 60i on x5 and just 105 groupset on this nice trek? What a mismatch 😅

Both look stunning!

Cheers from fellow cyclist 😉

Haha, thanks. It is my first road bike and this color way was really appealing to me. I would have made the jump to the SLR7 for the Ultegra group set had they had my size in stock in this color. There was another color way I was interested in on the SLR7 but that one wasn’t nearly as big of a sale so just stuck with the SLR6 for now. Definitely in love with the electronic shifting though!
