Here in Missouri, we can even deduct the previous sale price via Private Party transactions. No need to trade into the dealer for the deduction :-)

So, for example, if I sell a car for $50k via private party, and buy a new car for $60k, I'd pay taxes on $10k (so roughly $900 total or 9%). If I had to pay full taxes each time, there's no way I'd be able to buy and sell cars as much as I do :-)

If all states did this I think there would be a significant uptick in vehicle sales (i.e., more commerce, more business, more jobs, and less taxes).

Good day!
I’ll avoid taking the political bait haha.
With that said, in general, vehicle sales in Cali have not been a problem until recently like everywhere else.

But yes, whether I agree with the tax situation or not, it isn’t ideal on this rule.

I’m a liberal Cubs fan. I ain’t moving to Missouri…I’ll be run out of town

Now that is a total rip off. You already paid sales tax on your trade in when you bought it. They should deduct the trade from the purchase price and pay sales tax on the difference.

But as they say, you get what you vote for.
Glad I'm not in California.

Great weather, strong economy, generally good services, despite what you read in the headlines it is pretty safe…but yes, without question, taxes do suck. But while you say you get what you vote for, I’d say you get what you pay for. It has been a price I’ve been willing to pay for 25 years for a lifestyle I appreciate and has served me well. After all, I can afford a Bimmer.

To each their own.

PCD is a great time, although you'll have a bit more of a drive back TX from SC than I do to just Ohio. Some people make a fun trip out of it. I can get you my dealers info if you're interested. They are in Maryland.

Here's mine from my M8

Well, watch that video once and not sure how you could not do PCD…just about tossed my cookies on that first X5 hill climb of car ahead of you…whoa!

Definitely looks worth the trip and you’ve done 4!

Back to dealer recommendations, checking on an option out West, but would appreciate having one more dealer to connect to just in case if you don’t mind sharing…holding out hope I can get close to that 8-10% discount range…

Thanks again!

Is this a good deal?

Not sure if I’m posting to the correct location. Please let me know if I’m not.
That’s a great deal!! I would take it if they have a X5 spec’d out to your liking.

Can you PM me the dealership? I already bought mine but maybe use them for a future purchase. Thanks!

From what I read, the current experience is not the same as his as there is no free hotel, dinner, or airport pick up. Also maybe not as much of a factory tour because of construction? But if you can swing a road trip, still sounds pretty cool.

Yes, I think much of that is correct. Now there is no free hotel, no free dinner and while there is still a factory tour its the body shop (if that's the right term) tour where they show more of the raw metal stuff as opposed to the finished car. Its not quite as interesting, but still at least kinda cool to see. The discontinuation of the other stuff is a definite bummer though. The rest of it is still an amazing experience though and the 2h they spend going over the car with you vs the 5min that the dealer usually gives me is welcomed.

I have a dealer looking for a vehicle to come close to my build, but if not I have to order. Both dealers near me said MSRP if I order a custom build, but they would deal on something on the lot. I don't want white or any kind of primer gray or silver variant color so it looks like I'm ordering what I want. I am going to try and sell my trade in myself and hopefully get a bit more than trade in value. 10% seems really great if you find what you want on a lot. If I ask about a 50e they just chuckle and say good luck.

Why no dealing on a custom order? Both dealers I talked to were happy to discount a custom order.

Also, I can give you my east coast dealer who will be find dealing on a custom order if you don't mind ordering that far away.

Some dealers are like that. Contact a broker and you can order what you want and get a decent discount. Try Dan at Next Level Auto Brokers, maybe he can help you out.

I agree with snareman. There are lots of deals to be had on custom orders for the x5 xdrive40i in my area (metro DC). The dealer here gave me a bigger discount on custom than a car already on the lot. A great place to start is passport in Marlow Heights, MD. Once you get a price there, shop it around. I had no problem getting 14.5% off MSRP and a free set of all weather matts.

Not sure how high a demand there is for x5s in the current market as we found it interesting that all my dealers allocations got pushed up to first week of June. They requested a week 26 build with low priority and despite the efforts, car is already in production.

Passport is my dealer as well although I didn't get 14.5%. I did get the free mats though. Which model did you get 14.5% off and when?

He didn't 14.5% off, he is including the military incentive. Just best to ignore what he posts.

I suppose if I factor in all the discounts I got I have greater than 14.5%.

That is why we always quote discounts as dealer discount only. Not everyone qualifies for all of the different incentives so to give accurate data that can be compared across buyers only the dealer discount is included and any incentives may be mentioned separately.

Turtle, you are very rude and there is zero need to be condescending. What I posted is an absolutely relevant as many on these forums qualify for credit.

Without the military incentive, it’s over 9,5% off. With the military incentive, I got 14.52% off a $81k car. Plus free all weather Matts and the $1K BMW CCA rebate to boot.

That would be the accurate (as long as you aren't including the BMWCCA rebate), helpful way to put it. Thanks for correcting it.
