Longest wait from order to delivery?

Just wondering what’s the longest anyone has had to wait for delivery.

My car is like a mirage, every time I come close to a production date, it slips further away.

I placed a deposit on 13th September 2023, and was promised week 3 production with mid March delivery.

In January, I was told week 19 production, with delivery in early July.

Today, my production date has slipped to week 21, which, with 8-9 weeks delivery time to Ireland would indicate probably early August delivery.

Anyone else have similiar experiences?

That is very common for European orders, we have already had some folks wait over a year.

I might break that record at the rate mine is slipping!

Yours is also a special case as the production of the 50e has been very limited and continues to have supply issues.

I think we both have suffered from the same changes in expected build dates.

You guys have a lot of patience, long ago I would have cancelled in that case and went to another dealer.
I ordered 29th december (50e), car was produced 16th march, now waiting for a vessel at Charleston for 1 month so far, with expected delivery in june. And it seems quite more than what would be a reasonable wait for me.

On the other hand, I waited 11 months for my M4 G82 in 2021, but that was when chip shortages were at its worse.

WOW! Is your dealer also so bad in communicating delays? I have to call them everytime… when I ask why it has delays they have no clue… Hope you get your car soon!

I’m thinking of looking at something else and cancelling.

The continuous slippages and ongoing quality issues are leading me to think I should look elsewhere. I shouldn’t have to wait a year for delivery, maybe it’s partly an issue with allocations with my dealer perhaps.

Not sure it is the dealer. I'm in the same situation here in Belgium and it is a big dealership as well. First delivery date was end of February now it is (if there are not further delays) 15th of August. But still there was no VIN number available and production should start early May so not sure why there is no VIN number yet... as it is normally next week.. So I'm afraid the date will slip as well. Anyway I'm calling my dealership each month for an update. Really frustrating for a 120k car..

Definitely, our experiences are very alike. I thought I’d have a vin and status 150 by now.

I think it has to be the dealer, and the allocations they have available. Can't believe any 50e's are being delivered to Belgium in 3 months. It seems hard to believe

My week 19 has been rescheduled to week 26 today. Unreal. Back to status 111 from 112.

Does the dealer control this, or is it in the hands of the factory?

Dealer has absolutely no control on when a vehicle is built. They are given an allocation and what happens to that is out of their hands.

That’s what I thought.

Dealer has no control on the schedule of producton, however, if your dealer's allocations are constantly pushed forward, I would at least ask other dealers about the allocations they have available. What I say is, it is hardly believable there are no allocations sooner than that in any of the dealers in the area you live.

And, although dealers have no control over the schedule of allocations, at least where I live, there are some dealers that get many more allocations than others, and maybe with higher priority.

I guess BMW distributes allocations according to the number of cars each dealer sells, maybe bigger dealers have higher chances of getting the cars sooner than the little ones. I'm not sure though.
