Buy new without leather or buy used with?

This might have a thread already - as I am relatively new to the X5 forum - but I am looking at either building new as I can’t quite find what I’m looking for on the 2019/2020/2021 market.

But only Sensafin is available on the 2023 for now. How is this non-leather, “leather”?

As comfortable? I’m coming from a 2011 X3 which has leather but it isn’t he softest but has held up very well over the past decade.

Thanks in advance.

Hey i have a 23 x5 M50 with sensafin, so far i love it specialle the cognac color is amazing and they are very comfortable, i did drive a neighboors x5m and the seats were a bit harder comparing to the m50i but of course the x5m is more sporty, as for the sensafin its been really good so far for me no regrets.

Go the dealership and sit in one with leather and one with pleather. Then pick the one that works best for you.

I got the sensafin, with the luxury seating package. The luxury seats are amazingly comfortable. Sensafin feels and looks fine compared to the leather in my prior cars. A little less soft but that’s overcome by the cushiness of the seats.

I would go for the 45e and order the extended merino. I love the smell and feel of real leather, and at this price point it's a bit surprising that they've pulled the option.

I agree. I have an 11 year old X3 that has leather and still looks great over a decade later.

I haven't seen or sat in the Sensafin seats but will try to beforehand but it makes sense if I am going to spend this much to get leather.

Great point. Over time leather gets better, especially if you take care of it. The fake stuff gets worse in every car I've had. It's more temperature sensitive (cold/hard, and hot/hot and sticky)... and colors rub off on it... now maybe BMW has invented the best fake stuff ever, but I'd have to be convinced - especially if I'm spending this kind of $.

Just noticed the leather is an option on the X6. Interesting. Must be a volume issue and perhaps they'll add it back to the X5?

I checked out a black on tartufo (upgraded merino leather) on a 45e but was not impressed with the color.

The leather was really nice but I thought from all the pictures on the internet the tartufo would be lighter but it was dark.

That leaves the congnac in Sensafin. Hmmm… what to do…

I do like the leather but just dont like black, or ivory or coffee either.
