Extended warranty
I have read other posts on this, but wanted to get some reaction to this offer. I just took delivery of a 2020 X5. I put on about 20,000 miles/year and generally will keep cars until 80K-90K miles (so 4+ years).
I was offered extended warranty for $2,450 (dealer took $1,500 off the list price) to extend the 4 year/50,000 mile warranty to 5 years and 100,000 miles. Given my annual miles driven, that works out to be $2,450 to add about 2 years - so about $100/month. What do you think? |

Seems like you kinda answered this for yourself. If you feel its a good deal to have the reassurance of the warranty go for it, you don't need any of us to sway you either way. This topic can get crazy fast! It's like oil threads.....

Make sure you evaluate what is covered by the extended warranty. Unlike the original warranty provided with the vehicle, which essentially covers everything that is not specifically excluded, the extended warranties only cover what is specifically included. This means that if it is not on the list of covered items, it is not covered. While the list may look long, in my experience, a careful reading will reveal many items that are not included and, therefore, not covered.
