Wow, Jay! Thanks as always for posting these. I'm pleasantly surprised with the sound of the 40i.

50i M sport package includes 1MA M sport exhaust.

40i xLine or M sport are the standard (stock).

Are you sure? Actually I have added M sport exhaust option in my 40i M sport, maybe not possible in the US?

It's not an option in the USA. International markets yes.

Sounds great, thank you! The ciip of the 40i appears to show only the left exhaust pipe valve open. Not sure if it is possible (hope so), but with my previous X5's and my current 340 M-Sport, I have jimmy rigged the opposing exhaust valve so that it is constantly open. With my previous X5s that required a couple of zip-ties. With my 340, all I had to do was mash the gas in Sport Mode (to open the valve), then unplug the servo control wire. Works like a charm. Hopefully the new X5s have a similar set up!

My guess is that it's hard to capture the lower frequency note of the 50i exhaust without better recording equipment. Smartphone mics (assuming that was a smartphone) are terrible with low frequencies.

I am going to do another video tomorrow, the 50i was not a cold start.

Sounds good!

Jay, a bit of a side topic, but can you check and see if having the tow hitch installed on that 50i really negates the use of foot opening of the trunk? I.e., we can't wave our foot underneath the boot to open the trunk? Some one posted as such in another thread. Thanks!

Thanks for the info! That's disappointing... having to choose between ease of opening the trunk or having the tow hitch.
