I am about to order a 40i and the spare tire option seems to be 300 on the 40i and 150 on the 50i. It still sounds like good insurance.

The spare would be necessary if I ever convert to non run flats in the future. I am considering doing this as well.

Perhaps it depends on the wheels you choose but I have never seen it more that $150 for the 40i.

I agree. I have 20" MSport wheels, runflats, and paid $150.

It is still listed at $150 for 40i on BMW NA website.

I would definitely get it !

So I, unfortunately, realized that my spare tire is missing some things from the kit, lug wrench and some other stuff. I'm glad I have tools but would be pretty mad if I needed to use it on the road...

My car came with the 19s but i just ordered the 742m 22s with non run flats.

Im not even sure if my car has a spare kit or not but I definitely need one as well. Why does it seem like bmw is behind the 8 ball on this stuff i hate that next to no accessories are available for the g05 ex. Spare tire kit, m black grill, mpe, etc

Let's bring this thread up to the top with a request ... anyone reading this and ordering an X5 without the spare tire kit, please order it with the kit anyway and sell the kit to me. I'll pay shipping of course or meet near Canadian border in NY or MI. Thanks!

I couldn't find anyone willing to sell their kit so I ended up having to order the spare through parts.

As for those who are wondering how to get the spare in with the Luggage Compartment Package - you have to remove the cross member first. This wasn't really clear to us at first when testing the fit of the spare to ensure the correct part was ordered.

Actually, yes. According to what I’ve seen and read, the small jack is nested inside the tire.

I ordered one and will pick my car up tomorrow.

Random question: is that a G05? Where did you get the mesh holders on the side of your car? My F15 had them but my ‘19 G05 does not.

The picture above with the spare tire installed is one that I took from another post. Here is a photo of my actual trunk. Keep in mind that I do have the Luggage Compartment Option which might have included the mesh sides.

That must be it. That was not an option for me when I ordered.

I've lost track of the multiple discussions on the spare tire, but a "simple" question: anyone have a stock spare tire and — this is key — M Sport brakes? If so, any chance for detailed pictures and part number?

I am now being told that the reason I "couldn't order the spare in Canada" was due to the size of the M Sport brakes (which is actually believable if annoying, but the brakes never came up before).

I just ordered one - in the US - with both options, and neither our service rep nor the configurator mentioned any restriction and the order went through. The spare fits in the middle of the lower luggage compartment with room to spare, and I can't conceive of any "size" conflict with M Sport brakes that would impinge on this area, or anything close to it. Not delivered yet, so stand by, but I'm guessing you got a BS answer....

*Just did another build from the new US configurator, and you can certainly add both options - in fact I also included the Luggage Compartment Package, which probably also takes up some under-deck room - with no deletion or addition mentioned, confirming my suspicions.

Thanks. Standing by. But ...

... I don't think there was any implication the spare wouldn't fit in the luggage compartment. The implication is that the spare will not fit over the M Sport brake on the hub . That's what I'd really like to know, as well as the part number if it does fit on the hub.

Spare tire code is 300, $150 in the US. My SA was great For pushing me to include it in my April order. He said it is at least $600 after.

My crude measurement tells me it would fit the M sport. I have the 20 AS. I have never fitted it in the car, though.

Thank you! That's helpful, but I (and I have to assume BMW) are also concerned about inside depth of the spare over the M Sport brake, not just inside diameter. Just for sake of interest, in my shopping for winter rims, I have run into issues where by specs the rim would fit, but due to inside depth did not fit, over the M Sport brake — so this is not a non-issue.

I know I am being annoying and I suspect that the only way to ultimately prove it is for someone to install the spare for real over front M Sport brake, but I have to assume at least a little that there is some kind of a real issue here as otherwise BMW Canada are being utter morons — they might be undeservedly arrogant and, in NA, long forgotten whom keeps them in business and employed, but I still find it hard to believe that an entire group of them are utter morons :-).

I got your point and I'm kinda worried about the depth too. I'm sure BMW has taken it into consideration but who knows. When I have some other free time I would measure this. Great point, better check now than later using it and not fit.
