Hi, do you know if the the R7 can be hooked up using "mirror tap" to the X5?

For example, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...Y0AH&psc=1

Great hook up btw. Very sleek.
I am flying Ecuador to USA. Please look look for threads on radar detectors.

I've attached some detailed images. My radar detector clip is circled in red. In the other pic you can see the 2 screws I used to mount the radar clip the the BM.
What type / size screw did you use. Did you use a nut to secure the screws? Thanks

Curious, but do you iPhone users have issues connecting to the camera while wireless Apple CarPlay is active? iPhones won't allow multiple simultaneous WiFi connections.

I can't connect to my camera through wifi while wireless CarPlay is on and there's really no easy workaround that I've found that doesn't require a lot of setting changes to re-enable CarPlay for example, after turning it off. I don't have a BV, but a Nextbase and the only way I can access the recordings on that thing is through Wifi.

Has anyone hardwired to the rear fuse panel and can advise where the most suitable ground connection point is?

My rear looks like this but I cant tell where they ground...
https://overdriveautotuning.com/blog...00-pro-install

Edit:. Nevermind, found it and fully installed. Rear camera was a huge pain!

Any other photos, tips, or advice?

I see you have m sport. The threshold plate has electrical connection to the /// light so be careful when you remove the plate.

I wasn't able to take photos but access to the front fuse box is really tight. I needed to install a battery pack so had to change my plan and used the cargo fuse box instead. It is a lot easier to access and fits the battery pack. Of course I had to route both camera wires (front and back) to the fuse box.
Sounds like you use F218 for the non-car-running powered fuse (i.e., cigarette lighter), but which did you use that only on when the car is running? thanks!

F218. It is on when car is on, off when car is off, but there's a 5-10 min delay before it loses power after the car is locked. If the car is unlocked the fuse is back on. All switched fuses that I tried behave this way.

Thanks Eagle! So if F218 is the acc fuse (only on when car is on), which fuse did you use for the always-on? Thanks again!

I didn't use any of the always on fuses. My setup only requires one acc fuse and connected my battery pack to it.

Initially I tried hooking up the power magic pro which requires two connections. I believe I used the tailgate fuse as it is always on, but only used it once or twice to check the cams setup while waiting for the battery pack. I'm not a smoker and not using the cigarette lighter at all so I figured that's the safest to use.

Perfect, thanks Eagle! I think I'm going to copy you, though maybe do two batteries off the rear fuse box so I'll have to run both power and rear camera to the back ... seems the better way to go assuming there's room for two batteries in that compartment.

I'm guessing the Thinkware U1000 power cable isn't long enough to make it all the way back to the rear fuse box so will have to be extended...

You are welcome. I think we can fit 3 in there (BV or Cellink NEO sized battery). I've been planning on adding a 2nd one to extend the parking mode or other accessories.

I am trying to hardwire my dash cam to the trunk fuse panel but cannot find a ground location too. Can you please share where is the ground point you used?

My car is a 2021 X5 30d. Thanks!

Thread Brump. Was looking up which fuse spot for the proposed install. Is BMS going to be a issue, regardless of external battery as well with the dashcam.

I generally hook up the Ctek and top off the battery around wintertime....but that's the only time it really get's a charger on the terminals.

I had one of these Cameras (front & rear) professionally installed one of my run around small cars, in the very hot weather here in Queensland Australia it goes into thermal meltdown when the car is parked. It gets extremely hot to touch and you have to pull the power cable out and restart the camera.
Otherwise its a good system

I noticed you put your blackvue battery down under the right rear fuse box. Have you ever experienced the battery reporting overheating? I'm just wondering if the battery would get enough airflow to maintain it's ambient operating temperature.

No issue since I installed it almost 3 years ago.
