Hi,

I have a 30d w/ M-Sport exhaust.

When you put it in Sport mode it sounds noticeably sportier, I know this is 'faked'.

My stupid question of the day - can you hear it outside or is it something played in through the speakers in the cabin?!

turn off ASD and you'll find out. you need Bimmercode or some other program like Carly and an OBD II adapter

As far as I know it is through the speakers. So quite artificial!

What suprised me is when I found out that at least on the 40i, they pump sound through the speakers even in comfort mode.

So unnecessary IMHO.

Yes, but the 40i does have a decent exhaust note anyway, especially in 4th, really deep base.

Open all the windows - you will hear it is louder!

Owners on the X3 M40i forum are disconnecting their fake sound amp, here's a thread...may only apply to those who have the HK sound system and may not work in the same manner on the X5 but for them, its a 10 minute job.

With msport exhaust in sport mode, I just don't believe its all from the speakers. My friend thinks it sounds awesome and he was behind me when i pushed it. I really like the sound in sports mode with the msport exhaust. Not sure anyone in the US has heard it yet.

Does anyone know if this ASD feature exists on the 2020 X5 M50i, and if so can it be disabled with the push of a button on the console like the button that I think is on the X3M or X4M?

Yep there is a flap on the exhaust which opens when in Sport Mode.... Look at the part diagram for the MSport plus exhaust system

Not on the 30d. Maybe the M50d and M50i only, but need an M50d owner to verify.

Or it is a new update thing, because I haven't seen Trailer Mode or Fatigue and Focus Alert.

Certainly impacts fake sound. Don’t know about outside, but I doubt it.

The M sport exhaust in sport mode sounds more like a v8 at the back end. A flap opens and it is definitely not just the fake noise that you get in the cabin. A friend pumped the accelerator while i stood at the back end. You only get this with the M sport plus package in the uk but definitely worth it.

You wouldn't, by any chance, be into coding? If so, I'd love to get your car's NCD, FA, and SVT files to see if I can find a difference against my x40i with M Sport exhaust. I've figured out how to turn on those menus, but not how to accept a change on those menus.

In fact, that's a request to anyone with an M50i. Pretty please.

My 2020 m50 has that menu too. I was thrilled to see it. I have to say that I don’t find the sound too artificial. It is very well done compared to the X3 M40i.

Yes.You hear it outside.I had 30d with M Sport Exhaust.
From outside it doesnt sound as fake as aftermarket sound boosters.
