Quick way to reconnect CarPlay

As most know, when Apple CarPlay disconnects it is because of the lost Wi-Fi connection on the BMW side and to reconnect you turn off BMW Wi-Fi and then turn it back on.

The "trick" I learned from another post is you can program one of the radio buttons to do this. Navigate to the Wi-Fi menu, then hold the button you want to program. The button will then toggle between turning off Wi-Fi and turning it back on.

So when I lose CarPlay I tap Button 1 (the one I choose to program), wait a couple of seconds and tap it again. CarPlay comes back up in about 30 seconds or so.

Hope this helps someone

I found it usually faster to reconnect from the iPhone.
Switching airplane mode on and off, or simply turning both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off and on work for me most of the times.

this trick works really well. Iphone stays charging in its docker and this rapidly gets the issue resolved. Thanks for the workaround!

You can also hold the power button (volume knob) for 20-30 seconds and iDrive resets, also fixes the problem.

Not to grave dig this post, but I have an 18' M240i with the Wireless CarPlay from BimmerPost and GOD is it awful. Constantly pauses/starts/stops with the audio, it's practically unusable. I've tried fresh installing, new iPhones etc.

What's the solution to this, if anyone has it.. The radio buttn for me won't cut it, plus that seems like a terrible experience to keep start/stopping the connection.

This happened in my F10 535i with normal Bluetooth and it was one of the main reasons I was happy to get rid of the car.
