X5 Merino leather extended vs. full

Could someone please explain what the difference is between the two? What would I be getting for an extra $2,350 in cost if I ordered the full option? Is the comfort/feel similar?

Thanks

Quality is the same. With FULL, in addition to what you get with extended you also get the leather dash, lower dash, lower center console, back of front chairs (?) and lower doors (?) in leather. I could be missing some but that's pretty much the gist. Online configurator does a decent job of showing you what added when you cycle between the two.

Full leather in mine included leather dash, upper door cards, lower dash including glove box, control surround, armrests and sides of center console. No lower doors, no seat backs.

If you do end up getting full, be prepared to wait! I ordered mine on Aug 7 and its just now beginning to be built. Unless I am mistaken, its considered an individual option. Had I known it would have taken this long, I may have not selected any individual options...maybe. Hindsight 20/20 right?

Took nearly 3 months for both of ours, order to delivery, and both had Full Merino. It is an Individual Option, along with the Extended Shadowline trim (also ordered) and Alcantara Headliner.

Full leather gives you leather lower dashboard ($1,500) and leather upper dashboard ($850). It will massively delay your order, and also prevent your order from being modified prior to your build starting.

However, if you spec extended merino plus leather dashboard ($850), it will not delay your order, and it will not prevent your order from being edited.

In sum, you are paying $1,500 (way too much) for the leather lower dashboard and making several sacrifices to get it!

I deeply regret ordering it.

You do not get the lower doors or backs of the seats, and the lower center console comes with extended. Full merino on the X5 is a HUUUUUGE rip-off. It may go down as the worst BMW option I've ever ordered.

The only difference between extended+leather dashboard and full is the leather lower dashboard for a $1500 markup.

I agree it doesn't seem to be worth the upgrade. However, the online configurator shows more leather under what comes with extended for the center console. It seems with extended you get about 3" below center console with leather. Full, you get the 3" plus another 8 or inches.

The configurator is dead wrong. That area is carpet now matter which leather you choose.

Man it would be nice if BWM actually explained what the difference b/w the two options are.

It sure would, but if they told you, nobody would buy the full leather because it is a total rip off, even for BMW.

Plastic (except for the top trim carried over from the front, which I think is standard). Lower door is plastic as well. It's also the Luxury Seating Package. An improvement over the luxury seats in the Q7, part of which were fabric on the sides. It's a pretty extensive area that's covered on the lower dash, and it includes the full leather dash along with the console and upper doors, so I suppose value is in the eye of the beholder, but "Full" is probably a misnomer. I think the Extended option covers the center console and upper door cards.
